   They were all suspicious, well all of them minus Patton. How could they not be protective of the fatherly trait? Though one wouldn't admit it, (*cough Logan cough*) they all cared for eachother.
   So when the bubbly trait started dating a certain lying trait, they were worried. None of them were able to corner the snake, not even Virgil who had a fair habit of popping up unexpectedly. Roman would attest to that, sending the other traits in a frenzy while Virgil laughed.
   They had barely seen Deceit since he started dating Patton, the two preferred alone time and mostly in the imagination where Patton was able to have plenty, and I mean plenty, of dogs. Oh, oops, there's the fourth wall. Anyway...
    After a few months, it wore thin on them. How did they know Deceit wasn't hurting Patton? Threatening their kindest little puffball? They'd learn well enough that Patton could hide emotions, very well. So they snuck, much to Virgils displeasure, into the imagination and watched over the date.
    So now to the two loves birds... Man, I'm too lazy to fix this stupid fourth wall. Anyway!
    Patton and Deceit were having a great time. Just relaxing together, their hands intertwined. Deceit didn't even have his dish washing gloves on. He was also quite obviously flustered when Patton pecked him on the cheek, the non-scaled side, causing a cute giggle. "I love you." He blurted, quickly, flushing darker.
   Patton smiled, knowing when Deceit was taken by surprise he'd speak the truth. "I love-"
   The ones who had no idea that Deceit had spoken the truth had burst out of their hiding spot... More accurately, Roman busted around the tree, his sword in his hand as Logan calmly walked out with Virgil trailing back. "How dare you say you hate Patton, snake!"
   "Roman? Logan? Virgil? What-" Patton stood, Deceit standing with him, shuffling closer to the bubbly trait.
   "Patton, if he is harming you in any way, show us a sign!" Roman said dramatically, causing Logan to sigh.
   "Patton, we are simply worried for you." Logan tried, stopping when Patton glared at him.
   "Are you all serious?" Patton looked over to Roman, then finally to Virgil who shrank in his hoodie. "I can't see why you all can't just trust me or Deceit. And don't you dare say he's a dark side because so is Virgil. He isn't mean, he has never been mean to me. So why can't you all just accept..." He trailed off, Deceit wrapping his arms around Patton in a hug who was close to tears.
   "I... Im sorry Patton... I really am..." Virgil finally said, smiling slightly. "I uhh... If you're happy then it's alright but..." His gaze hardened and went to Deceit. "You hurt Patton, you have another thing coming." Then he was gone, Roman and Logan apologizing then following.
   "...I will hurt you, there was a need for that threat." Deceit said, shaking his head.
    "I love you, De."
    "I hate you with all my heart, too, dear."
