Chapter 6 - You're the Man!

"Edward, my man!" Marco's hands are up for a high five?

"What the...?!"

Everyone on my soccer team is congratulating me for something I do not know. Some are patting me on my shoulders and back, and some are giving me a high five, like Marco.

Yes, I'm on the university soccer team. Marco and I tried out on the first day of school. We got in. Because of that, instant celebrity status. That's the part I didn't want, hence, the deal with Maymay. With her, I'm no longer available.

"I forgot. My bad. Yung practice nyo, 'til what time?"

" Mamya pa kami. Okay lang mauna ka na."

"No, I'll wait. But I'll buy us some food first. I know Maymay, her stomach is like a bottomless pit. Balik ako."

"Hoy Erwin, lubayan mo nga ako! I want to eat in peace. Baka di ako matunawan. Asikasuhin mo yang si Mayumi."

"After mong kumain ng spaghetti at burger?" Pinagtaasan pa ko ng kilay ng mokong.

"Pag di ka umalis sa harapan ko, ii-spray-an kita ng pepper spray!"

"Pakibitbit na rin yang gf mo at baka sa kanya ko ubusin yung natitirang spray."

Nawalan na ko ng gana. Bwisit na bwisit pa rin akong bumalik sa practice. Pano ba naman ikaw gaganahang kumain, puro parinig si Mayumi sa canteen. Lalo pa akong inaaway at boylet na pala nya ni Erwin na panay ang pa-cute sakin. Kakain pa sana ako ng pudding. Syempre equivalent of two meals sana kakainin ko at isa pang bwisit na Edward yan, pinaghintay ako sa wala kaninang lunch.

Malayo pa lang nakikita ko na si Edward. May hawak na cake?! Okay, di na ko galit. Konti na lang. Binilisan ko na ang lakad ko at malapit na ring magstart ang choir practice.

"For you. But... you have to forgive me for forgetting about lunch."

Natawa siya at napailing-iling. Wala akong pake kahit ano sabihin nyo sakin. Ang sarap kaya ng chocolate mousse cake. Meron pa yatang cheesecake dun sa isang box. Yes!
