Arielle's PoV

Locking my car, I walked up to the nearest coffee shop. I was in need of some sort of caffeine.

I opened up the door, my eyes instant locking with Noah who was working at the till. I was just about to turn on my heel and walk out but he noticed me.
"Hey, Arielle!" He called over. I pursed my lips, mentally cussing before looking at him with a fake smile. Why did I have to come to the only coffee shop he worked at?
"Hi, Noah." I walked up to the till, avoiding his gaze and looking up at the menu. Well, this isn't awkward. I'm surprised he even called me seeing as he didn't really seem to care about my existence at dinner last night.
"What are you-" he began before a blonde girl walked up behind him, her lips dangerously close to his ear.
"Meet me out back in five." I managed to make out. Her words were somewhat seductive and I noticed Noah suck in a breath. Should they be fucking around like that at work? Hell, like I care.
"S-Sorry. What can I get you?" He shook his head, stuttering over his words.
"I've actually changed my mind." I licked my dry lips. I hadn't changed my mind. I really wanted a coffee, just not from him. I feel like he's bad news and I know nothing about him.
"Ok. Well, I'll see you around?" He asked.
"Sure." I dragged out the word, nodding my head.
"See ya." I turned on my heel, exiting the shop.
Now I knew which one he worked at, I was sure to avoid it at all costs.

I had no idea where I was heading now. Maybe some other place that sells coffee.
As I was walking, my phone dinged with a message.

FROM KELLY
I'm really good, thank you for asking. Oh you're too kind Arielle. For the record, your dad makes me very happy too x

I smiled as I read the words 'your dad makes me very happy too'. They both really liked each other. Maybe Kelly really was the one for my dad, she seems like a great woman.
I didn't bother to reply as I reached Starbucks, stuffing my phone back in my pocket.

There was a short queue of about 3 people so I waited in line. What was I going to get? I was debating whether to get the iced white chocolate mocha, which I used to have on a daily basis btw, or the iced caramel macchiato, a drink I had never tried before. Hmmm... decisions, decisions.

"Next." The lady called. I snapped my head from the menu and to the till where I noticed that it was my go. How long had I been thinking for?
I was quickly to rush up to the till, a small smile on my face.
"Hi, how can I help?" She asked. Time to make a decision, Arielle.
"Can I have the iced white chocolate mocha please?" I asked. I thought that I'd better play it safe and get something knew I liked instead of something I didn't. I wouldn't want to waste my money in case I didn't like the other drink. It would be just my luck.
"Grande, Venti Or tall?" The brunette questioned, tapping some things into her order machine.
"Venti. Go big or go home right." I laughed at myself. Oh god... did I say that out loud? How embarrassing. She gave me a small nod of the head, leaving me to laugh on my own. Someone kill me now.
"Whipped cream?" She asked.
"Please." I nodded my head, an awkward cough escaping my lips.
"Can I take your name?" She grabbed a cup and a pen.
"Uh yeah." I leaned forward a little.
"It's Arielle." I spoke. She looked at me, completely dumbfounded on how to spell it.
"A - r - i - e - l - l - e." I spelt it out, letter by letter as her pen smoothly wrote out my name on the cup.
"Perfect." She grinned.
"If you could stand over there, we'll call your name when it's done." She gestured to the waiting section where about 2 people stood.
"Thank you." I thanked her after paying.

I made my way over to the waiting section and I stuffed my purse in my bag, folding my arms over my chest, the smell of fresh ground coffee beans making their way up into my nose. For a huge coffee lover, I wasn't really a fan of the smell. It was just too strong for my liking.

Soon enough, my name was called and I was able to walk out with no problems what so ever.

I took a slow stroll to the park which was only around the corner and I sat myself down on a bench, pulling out a reading book. Yes, I loved to read. It was what kept me sane.
I guess you could say that I wasn't your average teenager. My life didn't revolve around social media. I much preferred reading and socialising in person, thats just who I am. I also don't like the music nowadays. In my eyes, it's not music, it's just people speaking words over a music track. Anyone could do that. I listened to old music, like the 80's or the 70's. They sounded really cool on my record player.
Being born in the 1990's, I was most definitely brought up in the wrong era but my I guess I could thank my dad and brother for the music taste I have now. My mum was more about the pop music, sticking with the charts.
And yes, I have a brother. He's older than me by 3 years making him 23, 24 in December. George moved to the UK a couple of years after mums death to pursue musical theatre in the west end. He loves singing and acting and boy, lemme Tell ya, He was fricken good at it.
George would come and visit at least once a year but him being in London and us in Florida, it was a little tricky to find the time.

I leant back, my right leg crossing over my right one as I scanned my eyes over the page, taking in the words. I was currently reading a book called "if I stay". Even though I had just started reading, I was already engaged in it. It was about a girl called Mia who was with her family and they got into a horrific accident. Mia is the only one to survive but finds herself in a coma. The whole book is basically about her out of body experience whilst in this coma. It's a very good story.

As I was reading, a hard ball hit my leg making my head snap up in the direction it came from. I then noticed a dog charging at me with a boy shouting after it. I picked up the ball before the dog could get it and I threw it back.
"I'm so sorry." The guy ran up to me, panting.
"It's fine." I mumbled, my eyes falling back down to the book. It actually kind of hurt, he had a very strong throw.
"If I stay?" He questioned. I looked back up at him, a frown on my face before realising that he was talking about the book.
"Uh, yeah." I nodded my head, folding over the page and closing it.
"You've read it?" I asked.
"No." He chuckled, shaking his head.
"I'm just trying to start conversation." He added before holding his hand out in front of me.
"I'm Jude." I stared at his hand. Should I shake it? I'd make him look stupid if I didn't.
"Arielle." I nodded my head at him, gently giving his hand a small shake.
"That's a pretty name." He gave me a cheesy grin before turning to look for his dog.
"Hey." He began, looking at me again.
"Is there any way I can make up for throwing the ball at you?" He asked, scratching the back of his head. I only then had a chance to properly look at him. His light blue eyes held a hint of hope, his blonde hair flopping in front of them ever so slightly. He was pretty cute, I'm not even going to lie to you.
"Hmmm..." I thought about it for a second.
"You could give me your dog." I smirked, watching as the chocolate lab ran back up to Jude.
"In your dreams." He scoffed playfully, picking the ball up and throwing it for the dog again.
"How about I take you out sometime?" He questioned. My heart picked up pace in my chest. I was so awkward. Me and 'dates' don't go well... is that even what he's hinting at?
"Like to get ice cream." He suggested.
"Sure." I shrugged my shoulders. I saw no harm in it other than that I was freaking out inside.
"Cool." He pursed his lips, digging his hands in his pocket.
"Could I get your number? You know, to like plan this." He laughed nervously.
"Oh Shit, Yeah. Sorry." I giggled, grabbing my phone.

We exchanged numbers and before I knew it, I was alone again. Jude, huh? Seems like an alright guy.
