Arielle's PoV
About ten minutes later, I noticed Noah walking back to the car, his hair a mess and his lips a little swollen. Asshole.
He got in the car, his face full of guilt. I didn't say a word to him instead, I handed him the parking ticket.
"What is this?" I asked, reading it.
"A parking ticket that you're paying for, enjoy." I grinned, driving off without giving Noah warning. He had really pissed me off, if you couldn't tell already.
"Woah... why am I paying this?" He asked, pulling his seatbelt around him.
"Because you owe me." I shrugged my shoulders.
"For what?" He question.
"Bailing your sorry ass out of jail." I answered, pressing my foot down on the accelerator. We could go faster now as we weren't on a busy road.
Noah didn't respond to that and there was no conversation all the way home.I couldn't make it obvious that I was annoyed at him but I think I had.
"We didn't do anything, if that's what you think." Noah spoke up as we walked into the house, me stomping off upstairs.
"You're lying to me but ok, I don't care." I did care.
"Ok, we kissed but that's it, I promise." He said as I walked into my bedroom, dumping the paints on my bed. Noah placed the rug and blind beside them.
"You don't have to explain yourself, we're not together. I'm glad you did this because now it gives me another reason not to kiss you on top of the whole stepbrother thing." My voice was calm but inside my blood was boiling.
"Woah what?" He asked, shocked by my words.
"You heard me." I sighed, grabbing the rug and laying it down at the end of my bed.
"So what happened yesterday is nothing to you?" He asked.
"Not now it's not." I shook my head.
"Fine." He stropped, walking out of my room.
"I guess we can go back to hating each other then." He shouted down the hallway at me.
"Yeah, I guess we can!" I shouted back. I heard his bedroom door slam and I flinched slightly.
I made my way over to my record player, connecting my phone to it as I couldn't be bothered to put on a record yet. The sound of 'the night we met' by Lord Huron filled my ears.I sat down on the edge of my bed with a sigh, taking off my shoes and tossing them across the room. What he did today was a dick move. I'm not the only one thinking that, am I?
I slowly laid back, looking up at the ceiling and resting my hands on my stomach.
I needed to put up my blind but I don't think I'm capable of doing it by myself. Hell, I don't even know if it fits.I stood up, grabbing the blind and holding it up against my window. I cracked a small smile once I realised that it would indeed fit. Ha.
Maybe I could ring Jason and he could come over and help me. I didn't want to ask Noah. I didn't really want to see him at the moment.———
"Up! Hold it up!" I grunted as I tried to screw up the blind.
"I'm trying! It's heavy!" Jason responded, using all the strength he had to hold it in the right place.Soon enough, the blind was fitted.
"That was the most stressful thing I've ever had to do." He huffed, falling face down on my bed.
"It's ok, your work here is done so you may leave." I laughed. Jason turned to look at me.
"Pfft, you need to think again if you think I'm leaving just yet." He chuckled, sitting up.
"I want to hear what happened yesterday." He said. Yesterday? What does he know about yesterday? Oh god.
"What?" I asked.
"You said earlier that you'd tell me how you and Noah got on speaking terms again." He said.
"Oh yeah." I nodded my head. What am I supposed to say now?
"About that..." I started.
"Let me guess, you're not talking again?" He asked.
"How'd you guess?" I rolled my eyes.
"What happened?" He questioned.
"I had to bail him out of jail yesterday which left me $500 out of pocket." I sighed, falling down beside my best friends.
"Jail? Shit, Ari. What did he do?" Jason seemed shocked.
"Punched someone's car window whilst he was high." I shrugged my shoulders.
"Noah does drugs?" He asked.
"Only weed, apparently." I wasn't so sure if he was telling me the truth or not. Noah seems to lie a lot. For all I know, he could have lied to me about feeling things when we kissed.
"Even so! Do your parents know?" Jason asked.
"I don't want to tell them. It's easier to just put it all behind us." I shook my head.
"If that were you, he'd tell." He said.
"Well it's not me so I wouldn't know." I shrugged my shoulders, standing up and walking over to the last box in my room.
I'd been putting that one aside as the majority of it was junk.Suddenly, the sound of the front door opening and closing was heard.
"I'm home!" My Dad shouted throughout the house. He was home earlier than Kelly for once. Maybe it's because of that work thing he's doing tonight.
"You coming to say hi?" I asked Jason as I walked away from the box and to my bedroom door.
"Sure." He nodded his head.Once we reached the kitchen, I saw Dad pulling off his coat.
"Hey." I smiled.
"Hi, you two." My Dad looked between Jason and I.
"We may as well adopt you." He said to Jason.
"Please." Jay nodded his head frantically.
"I don't think I could put up with it." My Dad laughed.
"It's bad enough that I have to put up with Ari and Noah's bickering all day." He added.
"Speaking of Noah, how did it go today?" He questioned.
"Peachy." I rolled my eyes.
"I'm not even going to ask." He sighed, walking to the coat hanger in the hallway and hanging up his coat before walking back into the kitchen.
"You could always replace Noah for me, that way you'll know Ari and I will get on." Jason smirked.
"Pfft." A voice scoffed from behind us.
I turned around and saw Noah leaning up against the door frame.
"Speaking of the devil." I mumbled, walking to the fridge. I wanted something to eat."What are you doing?" My Dad asked.
"Hunting for elephants." I rolled my eyes. Stupid question really. Jason burst out laughing but was quick to shut up when no one else laughed.
"Sorry." He was fighting back a laugh, I knew it.
"If you're searching for food then don't, we'll order food when Kelly's home and my friends start arriving." Dad looked at me sternly.
"What time is my mum home?" Noah asked.
"Soon." My Dad looked up to the clock as I shut the fridge.
"I haven't eaten all day though, I'm starving." I groaned.
"That's your own fault, you've had all day." Dad shrugged his shoulders.
"Um Ari, I'm going to show myself out. Have fun tonight, message me." Jason rushed out before walking out of the house.
He never liked to interrupt when we were having disagreements. I think he felt awkward.I looked at Noah's hand, noticing that he had taken the bandage off. It still look hella sore, more so today.
I think he caught a glimpse of me staring as he hid it behind his back, grabbing an apple from the fruit bowl.
"Let me know when mums home." And with that, he walked out of the room.
"He's allowed an apple! Why aren't I?" I whined, looking at my dad.
"For god sake, Arielle. Just do what you bloody please. I need to go and get myself ready." Dad walked off upstairs.Do as I please? Sure thing.
