Summer walked to the back porch of Luke and Claire's house. The cold yet humid night air nipped her exposed skin, making goosebumps all over her arms and legs. She sat on the swing bench on the back porch, tucking her legs underneath. She opened the magazine that she'd brought with her, starting to read it.

After hours of babysitting Nathan and Chloe, Summer had finally found her time to be alone. It wasn't because she didn't enjoy it though. She really enjoyed her time with those two beautiful children. Now they all had went to sleep, Summer used her time to read some magazine at the back porch before she headed to sleep.

A few minutes later, she heard a soft sound of guitar being played. She scrunched her eyebrows in confusion, putting the magazine on her lap. She looked around and spotted Calum. He was walking towards Summer, playing Michael's guitar. Summer was really shocked because she recognized this song. It was one of her favorites. She looked at Calum with wonder. How could he know Summer's favorite song?

Calum smiled nervously to Summer when they were close. Calum took a seat beside Summer, still playing the guitar and he finally began to sing.

Summer couldn't hide the smile on her face. Calum's voice was really unique. The way he sang to Summer, it made her heart pounding against her ribcage. Summer always had a thing for a boy who throws her surprises. And sure, Calum never failed to surprise her- either it was in a bad or good way.

After he finished the song, Calum put the guitar on the table next to him and he looked at Summer with a sheepish grin on his face. "I'm sorry if it didn't sound as good as the original artist," he chuckled nervously.

Summer stifled a laugh, shaking her head in disbelief. She just couldn't believe that Calum had just serenaded her. She knew that Calum was trying to make her forgave him.

"I guess the song itself has explained my intention," Calum said as their laughs subsided. "I'm really sorry for being such an arse to you that day, Summer. I didn't mean every word that I've told you."

Calum looked deeply into Summer's green eyes. Calum secretly liked those eyes. He knew he would never get bored just by seeing into those beautiful green eyes. "I was just really pissed to see him. The way he acted like there was nothing happened in the past... Ugh, I just hate him," Calum groaned, rubbing his face with his palms.

Summer was silent because she felt stupid suddenly. She didn't know how to respond Calum at the moment. She didn't even know if she should forgive him again or not because she was afraid that Calum would do the same thing again and again.

"Did he ever mention about me and him in the past?" Calum asked Summer carefully, fiddling his thumbs. Summer only shook her head in response.

"Figure," Calum muttered under his breath before he sat straight up. "Ashton and I were best friends back when we were in high school with Luke and Michael. We even formed a band that time. You know the saying that fame changes people? Well, that happened to Ashton," Calum started to explain his past with Ashton.

"That time, I fell in love with this girl. Ashton found out and he promised me that he wouldn't tell anyone about it, even Luke and Michael. A few weeks later, he got famous in school because he apparently had a few things in common with the popular guy in school. They finally became friends and he suddenly acted like he was a stranger to us."

"He forgot about our friendships. He forgot everything about us- his first best friends. Until one day, the next thing I knew, he dated my first love. Ever since, I hated him to my guts." There was actually something else that made Calum hated him even more, but he decided to keep it to himself. Summer didn't need to know about it or any details about the story.

"Listen, Summer. I told you my past with Ashton not for ruining your perspective towards him. I told you because I believed that you deserved some kind of explanation why I hated him. If you decide to date him, I really don't mind it at all. It's your right to date anyone that you like, right?" Calum continued, looking at Summer with a weak smile tugged on his lips.

Summer pursed her lips, trying to sink in the new information about Ashton and Calum. What Ashton did to Calum was really unforgivable, Summer thought to herself. Summer wasn't really expecting that they had that such kind of past.

Summer opened her mouth to response him, but then cut off by someone else. "Summer," a soft voice called her name from behind.

Calum and Summer turned their heads to see Chloe standing at the doorway, rubbing her sleepy eyes. "Yes, sweetie? What's wrong?" Summer asked sweetly.

"I can't sleep. I had a nightmare. Would you sleep with me tonight?" Chloe said.

Summer nodded her head, smiling to Chloe. Summer looked back to Calum who was already staring at her. "It's almost midnight already. I gotta go sleep. Thank you for the song and the story, Calum," Summer said as she pushed herself up to stand on her feet.

"Am I forgiven yet?" Calum asked nervously with hope in his eyes.

Summer chewed her lower lip, thinking. "Well, you really pissed me off yesterday so the answer is no," Summer said and she watched that Calum looked sad and disappointed. "But that doesn't mean that I won't forgive you someday. Show me that you won't act like an arse anymore then I'll forgive you. Good night, Calum."

Calum nodded his head in understanding. "Good night, Summer. Have a nice dream," Calum said sincerely. Somehow he found himself really wanted to show Summer that he would never act like an arse again to Summer. He would do anything to gain her trust and her forgiveness.
