Calum looked at the door in front of him with anxiety. All he needed to do was just to knock on the door and wait for her to open the door. But he was really nervous to do it.
Damn, Michael, he thought.
He blamed Michael for making him think that he actually liked Summer. The more he thought about it, the more he got nervous and afraid at the same time. It just still didn't make any sense to him if it was really possible to like Summer when he was still in love with Claire. Well, at least that's what he thought. He even became unsure with his own feeling.
Calum even didn't know why he was here. All he knew that was he was laying on the couch, thinking deeply about what Michael had told him and the next thing he knew he was in front of Claire's penthouse where Summer stayed. Maybe he was curious and slightly worried as to why Summer didn't call or text him today. Then, he began to think again why it bothered him so much.
She could've been busy, he had thought. But it didn't stop him to go straight to the penthouse. He just wanted to make sure if she was okay.
Calum took a deep breath before he reached out his hand to knock on the door. Suddenly, the door was opened before he could knock and his eyes widened in surprise when he saw a tall curly haired Ashton. He was wearing the same expression on his face when he saw Calum standing in front of the door.
"Calum?" Ashton said out of surprised.
Calum dropped his hand and still couldn't believe what he saw in front of him. Not long after, Summer walked into the view, not recognizing that Calum was there.
"Hey, Ashton, you forgot your phone-," she said with her thick British accent and froze when she saw Calum. Her expression mirrored both Ashton and Calum.
It pained Calum to see Summer with Ashton. He shouldn't have felt that way if Summer was his friend. It should've been okay to him to see her with Ashton since Summer was dating Ashton. Well, that if she was truly dated him. She never talked about it with Calum at all.
"Calum, what're you doing in here?" Summer asked after she managed to get out of her shock.
"Uhm, I-I... Uh," Calum stuttered. He couldn't let out any words from his mouth. He was still shocked. He should've not been shocked to see Ashton because he knew that Ashton liked Summer. He could tell it. If Ashton didn't like her, he wouldn't be here, right?
Say something, idiot, Calum screamed inside his head. He was lost at words and felt his brain wasn't working at the moment to look for any kind of reasons.
"Calum, are you okay?" She asked carefully.
"Ye-yeah," Calum managed to let out the word. "I-I was about to ask you if you wanted to join me on a dinner or not. I didn't know that Ashton was here. So, I guess-"
"It's okay, mate. I was about to go before you came here," Ashton interrupted and flashed a smile to Calum before he turned to Summer to take his phone. "Thanks for the coffee, Summer. I'll see you tomorrow." With that, he walked away not before he said goodbye to Calum.
Calum couldn't shake the weird feeling inside him. He'd never felt this feeling since the last time he saw Claire and Luke went for their third date back in high school. He was... jealous. But why did he feel jealous? He cursed inside again, blaming Michael for making him this way.
"Well, you came just in the right time. I was about to call the Chinese take away. Do you want us to have dinner outside or just call the Chinese take away- or anything else?" Summer said.
"Chinese is fine. It's been awhile since I ate Chinese food," Calum shrugged.
"Good," she grinned, "Come in then."
