jaylee's pov
monday

my hand held tightly onto the steering wheel, letting myself turn the wheel as I pulled onto the street my house was on.

school felt dreadful today, like a sadness was just poisoning the air. everyone had heard about ethan and graysons dad, and honestly no one cared.

what people did care about was the fact that all ethan, grayson, froy and osman didn't say a word to anyone besides each other.

and when they did talk to each other, it was small talk. like 'see you later'.

considering that they are usually social and the hype of the school, most people felt awkward almost seeing them have no efforts into making conversation with people.

I won't even lie, there were times that I didn't even know what to say. I couldn't figure out whether I should try to start a conversation at lunch, or just stay quiet and let them keep to themselves.

as I pulled up to the curb in front of my house, my eyes landed on a blacked out bmw; the wilk's car.

the feeling of nerves flooding into my stomach was causing me to feel nauseous, coming to the realization that sammy's mom and dad were back—everything inside me having hope that sammy wasn't.

my jaw clenched hard, swallowing the air that felt as if it were trapped inside of my throat. my chest began to inflate widely, and exhale deeply as I took my seatbelt off.

taking the key out of my ignition, I took my eyes away from their car as I grabbed my backpack from the passengers seat.

my hand grabbed onto the door handle, opening the door as I had no problem with taking my time to get out of the car.

I exhaled a long breath through my mouth as I shut the door; letting out a sigh.

I swung my backpack over my shoulder, letting it hang off the side of my back. my feet were slow to walk through the gravel of my driveway, then stepping onto my wooden porch.

my tongue licked the edge of my lips as I shook my head, mentally preparing myself for most likely about to be walking into something hectic.

I twisted the door handle, causing the front door to open wide—my ears almost instantly catching onto the sound of laughter coming from the living room.

I walked inside shutting the door behind me, not seeming to catch the attention from any of the adults due to the sound of their laughter continuing.

on edge, i let myself walk towards the room where all of the noise was coming from, letting my eyes study the sight in front of me.

it was my mom and dad sitting on a couple of barstools that they had grabbed from the kitchen, and both of sammy's parents were sitting comfortably on the couch with a couple of wine glasses.

"jaylee! what a nice surprise!" sammy's mothers eyes darted onto me as a kind smile crossed her lips; something I don't think I've ever seen.
