jaylee's pov
thursday 2:04am

my voice hummed the tune to cant help falling in love slowly as my fingers strung across the thin cords connected to my ukulele.

my head titled side ways as I looked down to it sitting in my lap, relaxing myself.

my phone vibrated on repeat against my wooden night stand roughly, indicating that I was getting a call.

my head turned to look at my phone in order to see who it was, but my phone was flipped-showing the back of the phone.

"ugh." I groaned as I moved the small guitar out of my lap and laying it onto my bed. I leaned over, grabbing my phone off of the night table, then reading over the screen.

*incoming call from baby*

I could feel my lips move their way into a smile from seeing his name. calling me at two in the morning? he's cute.

my finger tapped the green answer button, putting the phone up to my ear. "and whats you're excuse for being up at two in the morning, grant?" my cheek bone pressed against the phone from my smile.

a weak laugh came from the other side of the phone, "hey babe." ethans voice stayed low toned.

"someone's tired." I giggled to myself softly as my opposite hand played with the material of the comforter on my bed.

completely ignoring my comment, he cut straight to a different conversation. "are you busy?" he asked quickly as if it were urgent.

my eyebrows furrowed, sensing something wasn't right. "I've just been playing around with the ukulele," I uncrossed my legs, turning to sit on the edge of my bed to give him my full attention. "Is everything okay?"

my eyebrows stayed narrowed as I waited for him to talk. silence filled from his side of the phone, but I waited patiently.

my entire heart dropped instantly at the sound of his nose sniffing once, sounding congested-like he had been crying.

my heart began to race, the rate of it getting higher and higher as my nerves erupted through my stomach. "ethan, what's wrong?"

again, it stayed quiet. I swear, I could hear my own heart beating through the phone.

"I really need someone." his voice was cracked-crying.

worry started to pour into my body, traveling through my veins as a small panic came over me.

my eyes closed as I took a deep breath in, "where are you?" I tried to keep myself calm, hoping that it would have an affect to keep him calm.

he sniffed his nose again, "the pier." his voice was so weak that it didn't even sound like he was talking, it sounded like a whisper.

"stay there okay? I'm coming." I told him assuringly as I quickly stood up from my bed, grabbing my keys from my dresser and not even bothering to put shoes on.
