I frowned, my eyebrows furrowed as I sharpened my spare arrow heads. I put them over the open flame, watching the metal turn orange as it heated. I quickly took it off the open flame, pounding the tip with a rock to sharpen it. I dipped it in the stream to cool it. I then started scraping it, sharpening it like a knife. I hear a rustle in the bushes and my head snaps in the direction of the disturbance. Stumbling from the brush is my friend and practical sister, Sara. In her hand she holds a hunting knife. In the other, she holds two dead rabbits by their feet. She drops the rabbits across from me and the fire and washes her hands and face in the stream. She comes back and starts skinning them. She speaks up.

"Did you pick some herbs?" she blurts out. I nod, still focusing on my arrows. I hear her sigh in frustration.

" You're thinking of him again aren't you?" she says firmly but still sympathetically. I'm caught of guard and the rock skids of the arrow and scrapes the rock under it. I clear my throat and keep working, not giving her a straight answer. I'm still grieving but who wouldn't grieve if their boyfriend or girlfriend was killed?

Before I know it we're eating cooked rabbit and I'm sitting watching the sun settle over the horizon. If I had a camera, I would so take a picture. But I was scared of the upcoming night, knowing there were monsters on the prowl. It was my shift tonight and I was always frightened. Being a daughter of Apollo, I favored the sun. I was best in the light. My aunt's technically Artemis but that didn't make anything easier. I knew I was a demigod since I was a mere four years old so monsters chased me since then. Children were always afraid of monsters but they weren't demigods facing real monsters.
