"No! Nonononononono!" I cried out, kicking and pounding on the elevator doors.
"It dinged. The doors should be opening", Liam said, puzzled.
"Well they're fucking not!" I shouted, trying to wedge it open with one of my daggers. "He's dead isn't he..."
I slid down to the ground, every worst scenario I could think of running through my head.
"Hey. We don't know what happened. Now let's get back to Ellie", Liam told me as I stood up. He held on to my elbow as I stumbled along the path numbly, steering me out of the way of obstacles.
"What happened? Did you find him?" Ellie asked as we approached. I shook my head and sat down again, putting my head in my hands.
"The doors wouldn't open", Liam explained as Ellie crouched down next to me and attempted to comfort me. "Should we wait to see if Leo--"
"No", I forced out, not even looking up. "We need to finish this quest."
"Sara, are you sure? We could--"
"Yes! I'm sure. We have two weeks to explore the rest of this stupid cloud city. If Leo is still alive then he'll come", I told them, trying to convince myself. Ellie nodded and the pair went to find our stuff. After they had walked out of eyesight I broke down and started to sob.
