# Abid's POV
# Date - December 07, 2022

"And yeah... you don’t have to worry, because after signing the divorce papers, you’ll still have rights to my property," I spat the words, forcing them out like venom. "Consider it… Zakat. Because, hey, you’ve done so much, right? You even married a man who cheated on you. But look at what money does to us, huh? Pathetic." My voice trembled, and I fought the urge to falter. "Anyway, now you’ve got what you wanted. So, just sign it and leave my house."

I knew how heartless I sounded—cold, cruel—but I didn’t care anymore. I was numb. The flicker of hope that had once sparked at our nikah was smothered, buried under the weight of her betrayal.

How could she have done this to me?

If she had only told me she loved someone else, I would have given her everything I had without a second thought. I would have handed over all the money, expecting nothing in return. But instead, she played me like a fool, toyed with my emotions until there was nothing left of me to give.

She sat frozen on the bed, her eyes wide, staring at the papers as if they held some secret she hadn’t yet unlocked. She should be happy right now—this is what she wanted. So why the silence?

"Come on," I snapped, my voice dripping with sarcasm. "Drop the innocent act. Sign the papers and get out of my house."

I turned, too angry, too broken to stand there any longer. But before I could reach the door, she grabbed my arm, yanking me back. And then, her hand collided with my face, the slap reverberating through the room, through my body.

Did she just…?

My cheek burned with the sting of her palm, and rage clawed at my insides.

How dare she?

Without thinking, I grabbed her by the shoulders, pushing her against the wall. She didn’t flinch, didn’t show the slightest hint of fear. Instead, she met my gaze head-on, her eyes blazing with a fury I had never seen before.

"How dare you slap me?" I demanded, my voice low, trembling with restrained anger.

"Because you deserve it, Mr. Abid Abdullah," she said, her voice sharp as a blade. No hesitation, no flicker of remorse. Just pure, seething rage. This was a side of her I didn’t know existed. She had never fought back, never raised her voice. She had always been afraid of me, of my temper.

But now... now I was facing a stranger. And her words cut deeper than I could have imagined.

"You deserve hell," she hissed, her voice cracking with emotion. "Do you even understand what you’ve done to me? Five years, Abid. Five years of living in hell. And when I finally put myself back together, you walked back into my life like you owned it. Like you could tear me apart again."

Her pain was raw, palpable, hanging in the air between us. And it made me feel... restless. Guilt gnawed at my insides, and I hated myself for it.

"You think I wanted this? You think I wanted your money? Your charity?" She laughed then, a bitter, hollow sound. "You think I’m a gold digger, don’t you? That I have no character, no integrity. That I’m just some woman who married you for your wealth."
