We were about done with our shifts but the guys said they were coming in and would pick up Anne on their way.
Just this morning they'd found some kid's body in the park and now Johnny and Pony were gone. It was our job to provide a distraction and cheer the boys up, especially Soda who was already worried crazy about his little brother.
They walked in just in time for our shifts to be over so we could sit down and eat with them. Dallas had come along but it wasn't a problem because he was more than willing to be the one to keep Anne entertained.
The guys thought it was weird but assumed he'd be passed this in less than a week.
All our food had come so Anne was in Heather's arms. As we started eating, she reached towards Dallas, "Daddy!"
We all stopped talking and eating, instead glancing between Heather, Anne, and Dallas.
Heather tried to laugh it off, "I'm sure was trying to say Dally."
"Probably," Dallas jumped in.
We didn't seem too sure but went back to eating anyways.
Veronica was next to me so I could whisper to her, "Where do you think she learned to call Dallas 'daddy'?" I asked and Veronica burst into laughter.
Soda raised an eyebrow at our uncontrollable laughter and I debated telling him.
I shook my head, "Nothing."
Soda gave me his puppy dog eyes, "Oh come on!"
I gave in, "Just ask yourself, where did Anne learn to call Dallas 'daddy'?"
Soda glanced towards Heather and started cracking up.
Steve glanced between us, "What's up with you two?"
Veronica whispered in his ear and soon he was laughing too while Heather and Dallas looked on in confusion.
Steve looked over at Heather, "Never would have guessed, kid."
"Who you calling kid? I'm older than you!" She started, "Now what's this all about?"
Steve turned to Veronica, "Can I tell her?"
We were laughing too hard to answer so Veronica just nodded.
Steve smirked, "Just connecting the dots of where she learned to call Dallas 'daddy'."
Steve laughed harder while Heather turned red.
"What is wrong with you guys!"
Dallas just smirked.
Heather continued denying it, "I swear, it wasn't from me. How many times do I have to tell you, nothing happened!"
Dallas finally said something, "I wouldn't say nothing. We have kissed a number of times since Sunday and I've stayed over at your place twice."
He leaned back as she got even more worked up, "You're making this worse Dall."
Steve smirked at the two of them, "Awe! You got your own nickname for him! How cute!"
Then I realized what he said, "Wait! You've stayed over twice? We only knew about one! What have you two been doing behind our backs?"
Heather dropped her head in her hands while Dallas spoke, "Nothing happened, I just like embarrassing her."
When he said that she shot up, "You made this worse on purpose?"
He looked a little nervous under her glare but nodded.
She lowered her voice, "Outside. Now."
She handed me Anne before dragging Dally from the diner by his hand.
Soda chuckled, "Look at that. They're holding hands."
