About halfway home, a familiar face joined me, "Hey, Two-bit? How ya been?" I put my effort into forcing a smile on my lips.
He shrugged, "Alright I guess. You headed home?" I nodded. "Perfect. We stopping to grab Anne again."
I noddded but raised an eyebrow, "We?"
He smiled sadly, "I made a promise to a friend and I ain't breaking it."
I swallowed the lump in my throat and urged away the tears that were ready to spill over even at the slightest mention of him.
Two-bit noticed and pulled me into a soft hug, "It's alright." His embrace felt conforting and gave me the warmth I felt whenever the girls comfort me.
I pulled back and wiped the tears, "I'm sorry."
He shook his head softly, "Don't worry about it, we're all upset.
We walked in silence until we picked up Anne, Two-bit breaking it to ask if he could hold her. Anne was happy in his arms as he spoke to her in an overly happy voice.
Two-Bit left after both Anne and I made it in the house, starting on our nightly routine. I fed her, ate a little myself, and then put her to bed. For the first time since the incident, I fell asleep quickly, mostly due to exhaustion.
I slowly rose from the bed, finding another body next to me.
While I turned in terror, I was met with tired eyes, "You alright, doll?" He asked as he rubbed his eyes with a fist and yawned.
"Dall?" I asked in confusion but before he could answer we were met with crying from the room under.
I started climbing out of bed but Dallas put a hand out stopping me, "Don't worry, I got it."
I nodded slowly and just as I thought it was Anne, an older version of her toddled to the foot of the bed, "Mommy?"
I drew my eyebrows together, "Anne?"
She smiled, confirming my suspicion.
She glanced out into the hall, "Andy's crying."
Just as I was about to ask who Andy was, Dally walked back in the room, an infant in his arms, "I'm going to go grab a bottle for Andrew, meet me downstairs for breakfast in a bit?" Dallas asked while giving me a loving grin. I nodded and climbed out of bed to get ready.
After I'd officially slipped into some clothes, Anne came running back in and reaching for my hand, "Daddy says breakfast is ready."
I reach down and take her into my arms before we head downstairs together.
In the kitchen, Andrew was lying in a play pen and Dall was piling up pancakes. I bit my lip as I took in the sight. Anne wiggled her way down leaving me the opportunity to kiss the love of my life. I reached my arms up to go around my neck when I noticed a ring on my left hand. Scratch love of my life, husband. I was Mrs. Winston. That had a nice ring to it.
I couldn't help myself any longer and connected our lips for what felt like the first time in ages.
We pulled apart a moment later so he could put the plate on the table. As Dall and Anne took seats at the table, I made my way over to the baby boy a few feet away.
He smiled up at me as I reached in to pick him up. He had the same brown eyes as Dallas but his hair was the same shade as mine. Dallas and I had a family. I carried the baby with me over to the table, not wanting to let him leave my arms. Dallas looked at me in confusion but didn't question it.
Breakfast passed by in a flash and soon Dally was pulling my lips to his while Andy and Anne were asleep in the other room.
I sat up in a jolt.
It was just a dream. Of course it was. Dallas was dead because be couldn't cope without Johnny.
I sighed and climbed out of bed, knowing there was no way I'd fall asleep after that.
