Soda leaned in slowly and kissed me softly but I leaned in further when he tried to pull away, the kiss quickly deepening. After a minute we pulled back, slightly out of breath but grins plastered on our faces.
"I love you," he whispered quietly. What?
He had a flustered expression on his face as he realized what he said.
I bit my lip softly before smiling up at him, "I love you, too." He looked down at me in disbelief before breaking into the biggest grin I'd ever witnessed, and it only made him more adorable, "You do?"
I bit my lip again and nodded. He put his hands on each side of my head and pulled me into the most breathtaking kiss yet.
He pulled back after a minute but kept a hand on my shoulder, "This calls for celebration. Dinner at eight? I'll pick you up and you can come over to eat with Darry and I?"
I quickly accepted, knowing how worried the Curtis boys had been and also knowing I would do everything I could to lighten their burden.
He gave me one more kiss, this one much shorter, before stepping back, "I have to get back to work but I'll see you at eight!"
I raised an eyebrow, "Don't you want to get some food? You did come to a diner."
He shrugged, "Yes, but I didn't come for the food." With a quick wink, he was out and my heart rate was up.
He loves me.
My grin didn't leave my face all day.
I got off at six and practically ran home to get ready. I wanted to look extra nice now that I was officially in love with Sodapop Curtis.
Eight o'clock couldn't come soon enough and by the time Soda was at my door, I'd fixed my makeup seven times.
"You ready, gorgeous?" I nodded and took his hand as we started walking uo the street. He let out a slow breath as we approached, "I just want to warn ya, Darry is pretty stressed about Pony so he might be a little short tempered, but don't take it personal."
He seemed tense so I smiled reassuringly, "Don't worry about me, I understand."
As I walked in, the italian scent hit my nose and I looked to see a pan of lasagna on the table. Darry was getting plates from a cupboard when he saw us, "Hey, lovebirds." I blushed but Soda just smiled wider.
Dinner was tense at first but slowly grew more comfortable as Darry and I got used to each other's company. After we'd finished, Soda fetched a choclate cake from the kitchen. It was amazing and I became more excited to try making one with Soda tomorrow night.
