I needed to run to the grocery store to pick up the ingredients for chocolate cake. Soda claimed to have the best recipe so we were going to make one together the night after the rumble so he could see me while relaxing.
We saw Heather walk past with a cart headed to the gardening section. She had all her food already in the cart but seemed distracted rather than focused.
She didn't hear us call her name so we followed her until she stopped at the flowers.
She looked up and gave a weak smile, "Hey guys! Didn't see you there, I just gotta pick up some plants. Do you see any red tulips?"
Soda leaned in, "Speaking of two lips." He was quick to kiss me and I was just as quick to return the gesture.
Heather huffed, "Nevermind. Oh, there they are!" She grabbed a few and left us. Soda leaned in again but I had to stop him so we'd have time to get what we needed.
Soda came back to my place so we could talk after.
"How are you taking all this?" I asked quietly.
He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair, "I'm worried. Pony left after a fight. And murder? He and Johnny were supposed to be the good ones. Where would they have gone on their own anyways? Dally had to have gotten them out."
Not knowing what to say I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him close, "They'll come back."
He sighed and wrapped his arms around me, "I sure hope so."
I rubbed circles on his back, "Let's lie down on the couch for a bit."
He nodded and we walked to the couch, his arm still wrapped around my shoulders and pulling me close.
Once on the couch we snuggled close and wrapped our arms around each other.
A light kiss on my head was the last thing I remembered before falling asleep.
