"Listen up! We have a new employee, Kieva," our boss announced as he marched into the office. We all stopped working and stood up, watching as a petite female walked in.

I stared at her, drowning in her beauty. Her hair was shiny, and her eyes sparkled like stars in the night sky. "Hello, I'm Keiva. I hope we can be good friends. Please take care of me," she said, bowing politely.

And at that moment, I knew it. I was in love. In love with her.

I watched as she sobbed, her shoulders heaving up and down. It hurt my heart to see her like that, so helpless and tortured.

"Your mother is in a better place now. You wouldn't want her to suffer longer on earth would you?" I wrapped my arms around her shoulder, patting her back softly.

"Thank you, Chen," she whispered, but her face was still filled with pain and longing. While my heart was shattering with every tear she dripped.

I lie dejectedly on my desk. The day has been boring, suffocated with meetings and assignments. I take a deep breath, counting the minutes before work ended.

"Hello Chen," I perk up instantly as I hear the angelic voice of Kieva calling out. She was like fresh air, bringing energy and vigour to my life. I smile happily, before I turn to face her.

I get down on one knee, and hold out the rose. "Keiva, would you be my girlfriend?" I watch as tears fill her eyes, before she nods her head repeatedly.

I laughed as I chased her round the meadow. She weaved through the tall grass, and I cut to the left, blocking her path. We both fell to tbe ground in a messy heap. "This must be the best honeymoon ever," she panted, grinning at me.

Even after so long, her smile still sent my heart thumping.

I placed an arm on Keiva's shoulder as she looked down at the floor. "I'll give you two some privacy," the doctor said, but his absence went unnoticed as I stared at the tears gleaming in her eyes. In a blink of an eye, her tears were rolling down her cheeks, and sobs were convulsing her body.

"Don't cry, Keiva, don't cry," I whispered, my heart wincing painfully at the sight of her tears.

"Aren't you going to leave me? I'm useless now anyway. I have nothing to live for anymore," her voice was raspy, before her tears engulfed her eyes once more.
