I scowled as I perched 'demurely' on the armchair. "Why did you choose such an awful guy, Mother?"

"Because he's wonderful. Your future depends on him, if you would like to know."

"Mo-ther! I'd rather make my own living than marry that stupid twerp. That's why I go to Uni."

"He's here! Wipe of that scowl, and smile!"

-

I stood up sulkily, and bowed at the haughty lady prinking in the mirror. She was so coveref in diamonds that I couldn't tell where the diamonds ended off and where she started.

She turned to me and patted me on the head. More like smacked.

"Ooh, Doreen has grown so much, hasn't she? You're a big girlie, dear. But why do you look so gaunt? And just what is that tattoo doing on your face?"

Her tone grew from sappy to disapproving, and I resisted the urge to sumo wrestle her.

"Oh, Doreen is managing her Uni studies, and it's stressful. And oh dear, that's a mole, not a tattoo."

I never knew I had a non existent mole on my face, but I shut up, not wanting to hear that voice.

"Deary, deary! Where's my boy? Kyungsoo!"

-

As I clutched the stone Xiumin had given me in my hand and walked home, a boy jumped out of the bushes, and I screamed.

"Give me that stone!"

"No!"

He grabbed hold of my pigtails, and tugged hard on them.

"Ow! Let go, you beast!"

In my anguish, I dropped the stone on the ground and he snatched it up.

"It's mine!" he crowed, parading the stone round.

"Give it back!" I yelled, the tears smarting my eyes. It was a special stone after all.

He gave me a kick and ran away.

"Crybaby! Doreen is a crybaby!"

-

I glared at the boy sitting across me, and looked away. Throughout my school years, he plagued my life like a cockroach. Egg throwing, homework snatching, he was the typical immature boy who had nothing better to do.

"I hate you, Do Kyungsoo. You suck."

"Aw, Dory fish, I love you."

"Just look at them! Getting along like a house on fire!"

"They look good together, don't they?"

I felt sick as our mothers began cooing over our 'obvious compatibility' and 'wonderful chemistry'.

As I gulped down my dinner, I felt tte familiar dizziness creep up.

"Mo-mother," I wheezed, and she immediately picked me up and brought me to my room.

"You know what to do."

-

"Doreen is having her migraines again, and is feeling dizzy. Oh dear, Mrs Do, I hope you weren't too bothered."

"Tell her to look after herself. I don't want a sickness prone daughter in law."

"Yes, Mrs Do."
