I groaned as I stared at the paper in front of me, the figures like ants swarming in a sea of white.

I scribbled and scratched away at my paper, but nothing seemed to work out fine. The equations still laid a jumbled mess, and I sighed.

1) Given the following equation, solve x.

    lne (3x+7)=21

I put down a few numbers, but the equation remained hopelessly unsolved.

Sucking in a deep breath, I wrote 'This question has an error.' and proceeded to the second question.

The whole page was as awful, and I groaned as I wrote out ridiculous strings of non-terminating numbers.

It was obviously wrong, but who really cared about Math homework?

When I was done, the clock was already baring it's hands at 11:30pm, and I threw down my pen.

I didn't have time to take a break, because I still had a survey to complete.

And by the time I was done with it, it would be 12 and I would have to sleep.

The school system here was so lovely, promoting homework.

"I wish I could stop time! Or go back to all the happy days, when there was no homework." I muttered, glancing out of the window.

Outside, it was pitch black, and a star gleamed silently in the endless patch of night sky. The air was still, and it felt as if everything was frozen, silent.

And then a dark flash whizzed past the windows and I jumped backwards, my chair crashing to the floor.

It was like a flying blob of ink, and I shivered. Was I imagining things?

The blob suddenly appeared at my feet, and shrieked, kicking away at it.

"Get off! Someone call the police or something! It's a burglar!"

Where were my parents when I encountered UFOs in my room?

The blob began bouncing, and I grabbed a bag to catch it up.

It grew and grew, all the while thrashing violently in the bag.

"Sit! Down, blob! Good boy, don't move! I'll give you a bone!" Maybe it could be tamed like a dog? I wrinkled my nose, but it was worth a try anyway.

A sudden blinding flash of light pierced my eyes, and I let go of the bag momentarily.

When I opened my eyes, the blob was nowhere to be seen.

Shit. Did it possess me?

I inspected my hands, but I still had ten fingers. A check on my feet showed ten toes too, and I sighed.

So where was blobby hiding?

"____."

A hand spun me around, and I turned to face-blob?

Blob was now a tall man of bronzish skin-with a light green tinge, and eyes narrowed like a hawk.

He was dressed in black, with occasional dashes of silver, and a silver hourglass lay against his throat?

"How do you know my name? Where's blob? Why are you here? Who are you? What's your-"

"I know because we've met. 'Blob' is me. I materialized to be who I am now. I'm here to grant your wish. I'm Tao. I'm a time traveller." His voice was deep with a slightly childish tone, and I saw a faint hint of amusement gracing his features.
