He looked down at the drowsy girl, and dropped her down harshly into the brownish jumble he called home.
Leia was her name. He didn't know how he knew her name, but he knew that her name was known to him. He was getting confused too, so he watched as she snored lightly.
How disgusting of this human. Just what was she doing, sleeping with such a noise coming from her mouth?
Unable to take it, Kris nudged her gingerly with his foot. Leia gave a grunt, but she didn't budge.
He grabbed her shoulders, and shook her lightly. Lightly.
She flew up with a jerk, and began sprouting what sounded like gibberish to him.
"OhgodwhereamI?" she mumbled, and he stared. Were humans this tiresome?
"Eh? Aren't you that-" Kris hurriedly clapped his hands over mouth.
"Shush. Are humans generally this annoying?"
She bit his finger and he squirmed. Really, humans were impertinent.
"We just talk. And why am I in a bird nest? You aren't Birdman, are you? I thought you're a dragon?"
"Can't dragons live in nests? We have a body and wings. Birds too."
"Wait, you are a dragon?"
"No, I'm Loch Ness with wings," he replied sarkily, crossing his arms.
-
He had been out seeking for the last member of his clan, but walking wasn't his best option.
It had been a while since he had flown, and the sense of danger that had torn through his body as he jumped off his nest made him wonder how he had gone without flying for so long.
He beat his wings, and sailed through the dark night, scanning the earth for any signs of the wandering healing unicorn.
He spotted a faint sign of movement, and he swooped down towards the flash of white.
A girl was strolling down the path casually, and she shrieked when as she saw the black creature.
"Gosh! How cool!"
Kris had gaped at her words, but he knocked her out with one powerful bat of his wings, before he siezed her.
That was when he knew that her name was Leia.
-
"Look, I need to go home. My mum will go ballistic if I don't get back."
"I cannot let you go, you've seen me in my other state." Kris muttered, glaring back at Leia.
"I won't tell anyone. Why would I? You're probably the only dragon round here. You wouldn't want people poking in on you, would you? I won't tell anyone. Cross my heart and hope to die."
Kris gazed at the earnest face before him, and something in his heart softened. "I'll bring you back. But only after we find my friend, Leia," he whispered, patting her hand.
"How do you know my name? What's your name? Do you promise to bring me back before eight?"
"I just know. I don't know how myself, really. I promise."
-
"Do you expect me to jump off?"
"You don't have wings, dummy. Anyway, I'll catch you."
"You'd better! Or else I'll chop off your wings," she threathened, but Kris could only laugh.
He perched on the edge of his nest, and somersaulted into the ominous night.
As he fell, his wings sprouted from his back, he felt the scales cover his arm.
"Jump now!"
He circled round the nest, waiting for the small body to descend.
"Save me!"
He jerked his head up to see Leia flapping her arms, yowling loudly as she fell.
He whizzed under her, and caught her safely.
"Hold on to my neck, and let's go."
-
Leia pressed her face against the scaly back of Kris. It was terrifying to be so high up in the sky, but it was fun to ride through the night and feel the wind comb through her hair.
"You know, I want to be a dragon too," she remarked, observing his features.
He had morphed into a dragon, but he was still recognizable. The gleam of his ice blue eyes was still there, and he was muscular, even as a dragon.
"So you want to be one? It isn't always fun, Leia."
She nodded her head silently, and smothered a scream as he dived down.
"Do you want to die?!"
Kris merely went faster, and landed sharply on the ground, his claws grazing the floor as he ground to a halt.
"We've found him."
She peeked out to see a young man dressed in white.
"Go back to headquarters, Lay. I'll take her home and come along soon. Go, Suho's worried."
"Yes, ge."
Leia watched as he became a transformed into a unicorn.
"Can I touch your horn?"
Lay turned his white head, and nodded, his unicorn mouth drawn in a supposed smile.
She climbed off hastily, and stroked his horn gently. "Get back safely, Lay."
He nodded, then snorted. Throwing his head back, he pawed at the ground and sailed off into the night, leaving a faint trail of golden sparkles as he went.
"Come along, I'll get you home," Kris called softly, and she nodded.
"I want to be a unicorn!"
Kris laughed quietly. "I prefer pandas."
-
Kris sailed down to the empty patch where he found her, and set her down.
"You can get home from here, can't you? Do you need me to walk you back?"
"No, thank you. Why are you so tall? I can't even hug you now," Leia complained, and Kris laughed.
"You're just short, Leia," Kris laughed, before he stooped down to give her a hug.
"You'll come back, won't you?"
"I will, Leia. Next full moon."
He gave her a goodbye ruffle, before he turned into a dragon and soared off into the night, his wings batting as if in goodbye.
"I want to be a dragon, Kris. With you."
