"Are we there yet?" Carter groaned. His stomach begged for food, growling at them all for not giving him any.
"Almost," Cathy kept telling them.
"We will never make it," Sarah reassured them. "We might as well resort to cannibalism. I vote on Calvin being a sacrifice,"
"We're gonna be cannibals?" Rose asked.
"Yes!" Sarah shouted.
"No!" Cathy shouted. "Let's just remain calm. We are nearly there,"
"You said we were nearly there yesterday," The mother mumbled under her breath frustratedly.
Cathy rolled her eyes and shot a glance at Calvin who sat beside her on their small rowboat that held six passengers.
"And we are almost there," Calvin told the deranged parent. "I see land,"
"Liar," Sarah said.
"No, no. Look," Calvin pointed south where a part of land could be seen. Cathy and Calvin assumed it was the Island of Death, where the rest of the Zena had retreated to.
Sarah said nothing about this, only rolled onto her other side as she laid at the floorboards of the boat, stilled tied up in her makeshift ropes.
Suddenly, the water rumbled slightly. The boat shook, causing everyone to look around to find the source. When they did, none of them were happy.
The Deathbringer lowered himself from the sky down towards their boat. "Hello, Calvin," he greeted him, a bright smile on his face. The smile turned into a frown as he saw the rest of them. "and hello friends,"
"What do you want Deathbringer," Ben rolled his eyes. "We beat you numerous times before. Save the embarrassment and just leave already,"
Deathbringer's brow thickened under his ripped and torn up red cloak. "I will never give up until Calvin is dead!"
"How'd you even find us?" Calvin asked.
"Easy," The cloaked man stated. "I followed you from my last attack and flew above you the entire time while I regained my power. Did you know I could fly? Black Magic is very powerful, and I see it had its affect on you, Calvin," Deathbringer looked at the human's skin now turned gray due to the power of their last encounter.
"Let's just get this over with," Calvin stated, drawing his sword.
"Wouldn't it be better," Their opponent said. "if we fought on land?" Deathbringer's smile was hidden under his old cloak as he launched at the small rowboat, rocking it back and forth. He grabbed and reached for Calvin, trying to pry him off the boat.
However, Calvin jumped up and slashed at the powerful being, trying to get him to stay back. The two men fought, Calvin trying to protect the children and Cathy at all costs while Deathbringer trying to bring an end to his mortal enemy once and for all.
He eventually grabbed ahold of something and yanked it upwards, flying into the air above the boat. When he looked down, he was surprised to see it wasn't Calvin. Instead, it was Sarah, all tied up and dangling above the boat.
"This will work," He laughed. "If you ever want to see her again, you will give yourself up, Calvin. Or else she gets it,"
Deathbringer began to retreat to the mainland of Renya, Sarah dangling from his arms as he carried her. She didn't struggle or anything as he took her away.
"Well that was any easy way to get rid of her," Cathy stated once he faded into the distance.
"That guy is such an idiot," Calvin sighed, sinking back onto his seat on the boat.
"What's up with him, anyways?" The nurse asked.
"Remember that mission to kill the spies in the Zena? Yeah, he was a spy. Ben and I were assigned to lead the raid, and that we did. Deathbringer survived and locked himself in that old spy room or something and plotted revenge for like a month. He's sworn to kill me and made me his mortal enemy ever since,"
"That sounds so cool," Cathy exclaimed.
"What?" The gray human sat up quickly, confused.
"You're like a superhero or something," She explained. "It's like some book I read when I was a child. It was about this evil man coming to try to end another guy's life because of some bad history and the good guy always prevailed but never killed the evil guy. He just kept coming back for more and more and more,"
Calvin's eyes drifted away from Cathy and down to his feet. He didn't even notice when he stomped his foot again the floor of the boat, rocking it slightly. "Next time," he said. "I won't let that happen. Next time I encounter him, I vow to kill Deathbringer and end his life once and for all,"
"Good," Cathy smiled at him. "Now, get ready," she told him.
"Why?" He asked. He became confused when the kids shifted to the front of the boat and looked in awe in the direction they were going.
"Look," Cathy said, shifting her weight to the back of the boat. "We are almost there,"
Calvin stood up, looking over the three kids and seeing the giant island approaching. The volcano loomed over it, the giant trees of the jungle cluttering the base of it. At the front of the island stood the burned remains of a giant boat, one of which Calvin assumed to be the Zena's boat somehow burnt down to the ground.
"Oh no," Calvin's happiness shrunk as he saw the burnt boat.
