Calvin stumbled as he was thrown towards Braunick. "Look into my eyes son," The deranged king told him. "Let our minds become one,"
Calvin's body began to grow stiff, Braunick growing larger in his vision. Soon, the king was all the man could see. His eyes soon drifted into the ruler's, Calvin heading into a trance. He felt Braunick enter his mind, searching his memories. He screamed for him to stop but his body prevented himself from speaking. Braunick had full control of him.
You are mine, Braunick said to him telepathically. You obey me and only me.
You listen to everything I tell you. You do everything I say. You will be my servant until I say otherwise.
Calvin felt his head nod on its own. He tried to force it to say no but no matter how hard he tried, the muscles seemed to move on their own.
Braunick left his mind, Calvin feeling a little bit more in control of himself. His body relaxed and Braunick stepped back.
"Now fight me," Braunick told him. The king opened his palm, a sword popping into existence and the hilt landing in his fingers as they wrapped around it. He tossed the sword to his new servant, waiting for him to make the first move.
Calvin's arm shot up and grabbed the hilt of the sword. His feet shot forwards, running at Braunick with speeds he didn't know he had. Some how, some way, Braunick had placed a mental spell over him that commanded him to do everything he was told of by Braunick. His muscles forced him to move and do as told, even if his mind said no. His muscles also refused to let him say no to this in any shape or form.
Calvin ran with footwork he didn't know was possible. He jumped into the air and his arm brought the sword at Braunick's side, slashing his arm and pushing him backwards a little. Calvin landed and lowered himself a bit before running at him again and slashing a few more times.
He jumped over the king, bringing the blade down upon his head as he flew over the human. Sparks flew as the silver blade collided with Braunick's steel helmet, sending a ringing sound to both of their ears.
"Good," Braunick said. "You may stop now,"
Calvin felt himself relax, body becoming straight again. "Yes master," His mouth said on his own.
"Good," The evil ruler said. "As Deathbringer told me last time you were here, you are strong in Black Magic, yes?"
Calvin felt his jaw relax. He could move it freely. He tried to yell at Braunick and tell him to stop, but his mouth clamped shut, preventing him from saying such words to his new master.
"I don't know," Calvin eventually said, defeat swimming into his purple veins.
"What do you mean you don't know, boy?" Braunick took to the air and hovered above him. "You're gray! You have Black Magic surging in every crevice of your body. Now do me a favor and help me get rid of the Zena for good,"
Calvin's jaw was no longer bolted shut anymore—he could say anything he pleased, but if he tried to say something bad to Lord Braunick, his mouth would clamp shut and stay shut until his tongue was no longer moving.
Since he couldn't say 'no' to his offer, Calvin simply stared at him. Braunick's brow thickened after a bit, the all-powerful man crossing his arms and leaning back a bit.
"I'll take it as a yes since you have no other choice," The king told him, flying towards him. "I'll teach you Black Magic myself since I'm the one that invented it. By the time I'm done, you'll be able to kill thousands with the snap of your fingers,"
"If you can do that now, then why teach me to do it?" Calvin asked, surprised that he was allowed to say it.
Braunick seemed surprised by the question. "I have other matters to attend to that require my full attention," He eyed the thick book lying in his throne. "Plus, I can't be the one to have all the fun, now can I?"
"So he's on our side now?" Sarah, who had been watching the entire ordeal, asked from the corner of the room.
Braunick rolled his eyes as he turned to face her. "Yes. You can't kill him," He whipped back towards Calvin, muttering a few words under his breath. Something about how she couldn't even kill him even if she tried.
"How weak is the Zena? Weak enough to be attacked?"
Calvin felt his tongue force him to speak. "Very weak. They lost two Destigems, one of them being your brother,"
"Yes, I know," His face fell. "It's better this way. It was either this or I would've had to do it some other time,"
"They are considering fleeing," Calvin blurred out. He had wanted to hold that thought in, but his voice forced him to say it.
"Again?" The king asked, raising his head. "Where else could they possibly go?"
"Across the waters,"
"They don't know what's over there," He laughed. "It's a foolish move. They'll never make it long enough to survive,"
Braunick cleared his throat. "You will work with me to teach you the Black Magic you need to overthrow the Zena under my command—you will be the most powerful being, behind me of course, in all of Renya,"
