Arenia ran to a building, fumbling with the doorknob. It broke off and she groaned as they the knob behind her, hitting Marque in the head as he fought off the evils.
She raised her foot, kicking at the wooden door with her strongest force. Within three strong kicks, the door broke off its hinges, dust flying as it hit the ground. "Come on!" She yelled to Marque as she ran into the building.
The human slashed at one more evil as he ran after his friend. Once he entered the building, Arenia picked up the door she had previously kicked door and held it in front of the doorway as evils cluttered outside. They banged and pushed on the door, trying to get inside and harm the two Destigems. Marque hurried to her aid, holding the door closed.
"Hey!" A voice was heard from the hallway behind them. "What are you doing in my house," The voice said sternly. "I have a bow aimed at you both. If you let those things in or pull something at me, I will shoot straight in the eyes,"
Arenia glanced behind as she pushed against the door with her shoulder. "You're sane?" She asked as she spotted the person. It was a male human, decked in armor with a blade tied to his belt. He had a shiny silver bow aimed straight at Arenia's head.
"Of course I am," he stated. "I would've killed you if I wasn't,"
"We are here–," Marque grunted. "–to rescue you,"
"Ha!" He spat. "I don't need rescuin'. I've survived in this very house in this very city in this very storm since the apocalypse began. I don't need any help,"
"Don't you want to be out of the storm?" Arenia asked. "Away from the monsters?"
"Them monsters out in the streets used to be my friends before they were turned," The survivor told them. "It's a small town. I haven't killed any of them. I just keep my house locked up and mind my own business. I get supplies via rooftops and no one down there sees me,"
"We are apart of the Zena," Arenia told him, the door popping open a bit and a hand sticking inside. "We are rescuing every survivor in this city,"
"Ain't no one left but me," the survivor said. "You need a little help there?"
"Please," Marque beckoned.
Footsteps faded as the survivor walked away. Arenia thought he wouldn't come back, but when he did, he came with long and thick nails with a big hammer.
The survivor quickly nailed the door in front of the doorway, the Destigems letting go of it. The evils still continued to bang on it from the outside, the nails doing their duty and keeping it stuck.
"It won't hold for long," he said. "but I guess it's best to just give in and go with you all. They know that I'm here now,"
"I'm Plor," he introduced himself. "and I'm assuming you're both Destigems?"
"How'd you know?" Marque asked.
"What idiots would throw themselves into the open storm while it's raining into a city when ninety-nine point nine percent of its population has been turned?"
"I guess you're right," Arenia said. "but we've done even bigger stupid things,"
"And that is?"
"We rushed into Urania while Braunick was in control and tried to take him on when we had only a total of three men,"
"But you won, correct?"
"Yeah," She nodded.
"Then it ain't stupid. Come on, let's leave out the back door,"
"Hold on," Marque stopped him, reaching into his satchel. "I have a cloak for you," He pulled out one of the many cloaks that was in his satchel. Those were the only items in there and he was going to give them to all the survivors they found, but assumed Plor knew what he was talking about when he said he was the last one left in this city.
"I already have one," The human stated. "I am prepared for this and knew it'd be coming at some point. Just didn't expect to be going to the Zena,"
He rushed back down the hall and came back with a handmade cloak. It had various fabrics sewn onto it, each a different color. It didn't look very secure, but Plor didn't seemed very worried about it. He led the two out the backdoor and into his small backyard. They climbed up a board he had laid against his fence which was somehow still standing and jumped over to the other side. The Destigems took over the lead and sent Barjual a quick message before taking off towards the waters once again with a new member of the Zena behind them.
