"Riker..I.." I looked around, everyone was watching, filming, expecting some gooshy heartfelt moment to post online. "I-I'm sorry Riker, I can't. I.. I just can't." I choked, a sharp pain seared my heart as I ran out of the room crying. I knew no one would run after me, they have to go through with the concert. I ran and ran until I slowed down in front of an old book shop. It began to rain and of course I didn't have a jacket so I ducked inside to keep dry.
I searched for a quiet far corner to cry in, I just needed to be alone, I need to gather my strength to keep Riker away long enough to make them leave. I curled up on an old dusty couch and cried into one of its pillows.
"Are you okay dear?" A small voice asked, I turned and saw a woman, maybe in her fifties. She looked old enough to be my mom. "Yeah, I- I'm fine." I hiccuped out. "Are you sure?" She asked nicely, I looked at the woman, something about her seemed comfortable. "Well... I have this problem but.. You probably have things to do so I won't burden you with it." I sniffled, the woman gave me a sad smile and sat down on the couch across from me.
"There isn't a problem you can't solve when you talk it out. I'm all ears." She said, giving me a warm smile. I felt like she reminded me of someone..I could remember though. "Well, I like this boy who's in a band and a pretty famous one too..." I told her everything, all of the story and by the end I was crying. "Oh sweety." She cooed, getting up and giving me a hug.
"Well... It sounds like you really love this boy and he loves you. You should do your best to stay with him, make it work. Why not try to go on tour with them or have a long distance relationship? I know most don't work but.. This one sounds like it would." The woman said, I pulled away from her hug.
"But I'm not good for him! I'll be an anchor, I'll only weigh him down!" I sniffled. The woman looked at me, almost sadly. "Sometimes that's what you need, an anchor to keep you grounded." She smiled then, a warm reassuring smile. I couldn't help but smile back. "Thank you." I said to her as I got off the couch.
"Why don't you take a book, on the house. Nothing like a good book to make you feel better." She said, waving me towards the bookshelves. I then realized she worked here, I had thought she was a shopper. I walked over to the nearest shelf and my eyes fell upon a book immeadiatly. I reached forwards and pulled the weathered book from the shelf.
"Harry potter." I read allowed, I turned to the woman who was beaming now. "Everyone needs a little magic in their lives." She said, ushering me towards the door. "I'll have to come back for the rest of the series." I smiled at the woman. "You need to, I need to her about this boy of yours and maybe meet him. He seems like the perfect guy." She smiled, something about an adults approval made me fill with a sort of pride.
I hugged the woman goodbye and left with the promise to come back, maybe with Riker. Now to approach that problem.
