Chapter 53

The next day Ryland had set up a talk show interview on some show thats apparently popular called Steve Says. I twirled my promise ring around my finger as we waited in the green room for our turn to go on. I switched to spinning my earring when Riker grabbed my wrists. "Stop, your going to drive us both insane." He smiled, releasing my hands. I folded them on my lap and waited. A guy wearing a headset came into the room and told us we were on in a few minutes. Luckily the whole group was going on with us so it wasn't solely focused on Riker and I. We stood up from the couches and began to fix ourselves for tv. I tried to look less nervous than I actually was.

Riker and I followed the rest of the band towards the stage, I squeezed Riker's hand really hard, hoping to make me feel better. Riker smiled at me. "It won't make the butterflies go away." He whispered as we edged nearer to the stage. I could hear Steve saying our intro.

"Speaking of shocking development, hot rising star band R5 has been having a spike in the media. My little cousins are pretty bothered by it so I did a little research and found out one of the heart throb lynch boys is rumored to be engaged!" Gasped and shouts went through the crowd until Steve motioned for them to quiet a little. "We were contacted by the bands manager and youngest lynch Ryland who wanted to band on my show to explain the matter! So, here's R5!!" He said, the crowd went on clapping wildly as whistles sounded through the air.

We all walked out and sat on the couches that were their instead of the usual chair for the guests. "So! Emily smith! The first girl to snag a lynch! And it looks like you caught him hook line and sinker!" Steve laughed, I smiled shyly at him and stayed close to Riker. "Yeah, I have. But that's what we're here to sort out." I said, as we discussed. This being my first time on tv we had per planned my parts and then the others would say most of the rest. Taking the pressure off of me.

"Well Steve, the thing is is that we're not engaged." Riker said, smiling. Loud gasps and cheers shot through the crowd. "Oh? Well what's that little number?" Steve asked, pointing to my ring. "Oh, you see, I gave Emily a promise ring. Since we both agreed we were too young for marriage but I also felt that this was the right way to go to show her how much I love her." Riker said, the last part he said while looking at me then ended it with a peck on my lips. Awww's went through the crowd and I blushed down at my feet.

"Heart felt and beautiful from Riker lynch everybody!" Steve said, making the crowd up roar again. "Now.. How does everyone feel about the new relationship?" He asked, we were all hooked up to mics so everyone could chime in whenever. "Well Steve, I personally LOVE this couple right here! Never have I thought two people could be more meant for each other than these two." Rydel smiled. "I think we're all just really happy for our big bro for finding that special someone. And we all hope to find the same." Ross said, winking at the crowd, I don't have to tell you how THAT went over.

"Very cute, very sweet. But you're not really answering my question. How do you guys feel about Riker dating Emily. Any resentment? Jealously? Do you dislike her in anyway?" He asked, I froze, I don't think even I Knew how they felt on the matter. I-I've never asked them...

"No of course not! We love Emily! I mean, at first it didn't go smoothly but with a close knit family like ours we look out for our siblings and tend to be judge when it comes to their relationships." Rocky said, I stared wide eyed at him, wondering how his foot tasted since it was clearly shoved in his mouth. "Oooh... Overprotective nosey siblings, interesting." Steve said, looking really interested. "So, when did you guys start liking each other?" He asked, I blushed at how I met Riker and hoped we weren't going with the truth.

"Well...they met at one of our concerts, Emily was the first girl to ever sneak a kiss during photos." Ratliff said casually. "I think it blossomed from there." I was so shocked at how much this interview had taken a turn, I'm beyond mortified. "Oh? Juicey little tid bit! How about first kiss?" He asked. No, please no.

"Well Steve, Riker was admitting to sabotaging the tour to stay with her when he just took a leap and kissed her." I wanted to vomit as Ross blurted that, Steve's face was like a kid on Christmas. "Well! That's all the time we have today ladie and gents! Goodnight!" He said to the camera, the lights for the stage turned off and I stood up my hands covering my face.

"Guys! This is going to be worse than the ring!" I whined, it's not very mature but it was all I could do at the moment.
