A ring.
My eyes widened as the table got quiet. My eyes were glued to the plate as my heart rate spread up. I'm not ready for marriage, am I? I mean I love Riker but do I wanna get married so young? Is it legal for us to get married? I've been silent to long... I looked up and saw Riker grinning nervously. I opened my mouth to say something but no words came out.
After a few more minutes of silence I managed words. "R-Riker....is this..is this a proposal?" I choked out,my throat tight. "Oh god no, I mean... Not yet. It's a promise ring, it's the promise of us someday getting married." I smiled, he used his fork to pull out the ring and wipe it off. I large sigh of relief escaped me, Riker lifted an eyebrow at me. "I mean I'd love to marry you, some day. But I thought you were proposing now and... God I am not ready for marriage. But this... Riker I am ready for this." I smiled, Riker grabbed my hand and slid the ring on it.
I looked down and saw that if was a silver band with tiny pink stones making up the shape of the R5 symbol. I spun it and saw the date of the concert where we met. A tear slid down my face and I launched into a hug. I squeezed Riker hard and kissed the entire side of his face softly. "Oh Riker... I love you so much." I cried into his shoulder, he held me tight and nuzzled the crook of my neck. "I love you too Em." He said Into my shoulder. "And you know what, this means you are just one more step closer to being mine forever." He whispered to me.
I smiled at the thought of marring Riker one day, Rydel and the boys at our wedding giving us thumbs ups to show approval, having kids with Riker... Being an auntie to the others kids, growing old.. I smiled at the thought, the thought of how important this little ring is to my and Riker's future. "You know you could have gotten me just a plain band." I said, twisting it back around to have the symbol face me. "Yeah, but how boring is that?" Riker laughed, I looked up and saw everyone in tears at the table.
"We should go before someone beings to bawl." I chuckled as we paid and left. My finger felt as if I had a key to heaven on it. Which in a way, I did.
