Mark's POV
"Son, we need to talk." My father said as we walked to the garden. It overlooked The whole village that we ruled. "son, what do you see?"
"I see people working and the kids are learning in school. I see the farmers tending to the crops and the troops are practicing in the field."
"You see the village that you will once rule, but who will rule it once you can no longer?"
"Wait, why am I getting the crown? I am not the oldest sir."
"You have a way with the people when they see you they know you will take care of the problem. You care son."
"But sir, if I take the crown then."
"Yes, you will need to start a family soon, that way they are old enough to take the crown at the right time. I heard from the palace that you have not gone to any of the dances to find your queen."
"No sir, the girls that are there are not the ones I want to be with. They are too, self-centered."
"I had a feeling that was the reason, very well. Since you don't want to spend the rest of your life with the girls that are picked for you. You must find her. Go out to the village and find someone, she must fall in love with you and not the crown."
"Yes, sir."
He nodded his head then headed back inside. Great! I have to find a wife who will rule the village with me. I walked back inside to finish my chores, well to help with them. We have people who does them but they didn't make the mess.
"I heard you and your father talk." My mother said walking into my room.
"Yes, ma'am."
"Mark, I am your mother, you do not need to use proper titles like that."
"Sorry, mom."
"Are you going to go to the dance?"
"Yes, I will go."
"Thank you."
"I am going to go to the town now."
"Okay."
I walked around the town looking for someone to catch my eye, by all I see is girls rushing over to me dreaming of the idea of being queen, never having to lift a finger again. I went down to the stables but all I found where the horses,
"Where did everyone go?"
"They heard that you will be in town so they all left to find you." The stableman said.
"Well, all I see are girls who just want to be the queen."
"You will find the one, you just need to keep looking."
"Thanks, I need to find her soon, but while I am here, do you need help with anything?"
"Sir, as much as I would love some help I am going to have to say no. Go out and find our next queen."
"As you wish."
I headed back to the town to be greeted by girls lining the walkways all waving at me. I waved back but kept walking.
"Prince Mark, how are you today?" One of the girls asked.
"Very well, thank you."
All these girls are the same, they left their duties in hopes of me picking them. I shook my head clear then headed back to the castle.
"No luck?" My mother asked.
"All the same."
"You will find her, she is just waiting for the right time."
