Mark's pov

Another night of working open to close, I know I always wanted to own my own business but, I thought that the people I hired would help more. The drive home was the normal long drive, the only difference was that the rain was coming down harder than a normal rainstorm. I slowed down on the speed trying to see a few feet away from me.

"HELP! PLEASE STOP!" A female's voice screamed as she ran in front of my car.

I slammed on the breaks coming inches from her knees. I jumped out of the car.

"Are you crazy! I could have killed you!" I freaked as I rushed over to her.

"Please, help me." Her voice was soft as she wiped the hair that was sticking to her face away showing the panic in her eyes.

"What is going on?" I kept my voice strong.

"Get back here! We just want to talk!" A male said running over to us.

I stepped in front of her glaring at the four men running to us.

"Go away," I ordered them.

"It is just one of you and four of us." The short one laughed.

"Get in my car," I said to the girl.

She walked behind me getting into the passenger side. Once she was in I pulled a gun from my waist ban.

"I have a fully loaded gun and I have an aim that will kill you all. Leave now or your blood will wash away in the rain."

"Your bluffing." The one closest to me said.

Thunder boomed through the air.

"The thunder will mask the sound of the gun firing, you will bleed out with the rain taking your blood far, far away."

They looked at each other then ran away. I put the gun away then rushed to the driver seat.

"Are you okay?" I asked as I got into the car.

"I was just walking, trying to get to a friend's house. One followed me to her house, the door was locked and she is nowhere to be found. I kept walking thinking I can lose the guy but he ended up getting more friends. I don't know what they wanted and I want to know."

She was shaking, I can't tell if it is from how cold she is or scared shitless.

"My name is Mark, I promise to keep you safe."

"Amy." She gave me a small smile as she played with the end of her soaked pink shirt. Her black leggings stuck to her body, "I am getting your seat all wet." Her smile disappeared.

"It's okay, it will dry. Um so Amy, where do you live? I can take you home."

"I don't have anywhere to go, I just turned 18 a week ago, so they kicked me out of the foster house. I have a job but it is not enough to live anywhere. I don't even have money for a phone. I am staying at my friend's house but she never gave me a key."

"Do you know your friend's phone number? I can give you my phone to call."

"She didn't pay it this month, she wanted to buy booze instead."

"You have nowhere to go?" My heart broke. They kicked her out of her foster home just for turning 18 and her friend doesn't seem to smart.

She nodded her head yes as tears fell from her eyes.

"Amy, I know I am just a stranger but, I have a spare room. I can get you some dry clothes, food in your stomach and a safe place to sleep for the night."
