Amy's pov

I know that I should be scared, I am in a stranger's house sleeping. But I don't feel scared, I feel at home. He gave me dry clothes, food, a bed to sleep in. And he colored with me. I know it seems silly but, he did. I don't want to go back to that house, they are all mean there! Even Molly, she acts like my friend but she is so mean! The only thing that would make it better here is if Fred my teddy bear was here. My dad gave him to me when I was a baby. It is the only thing I have of my family.

When I woke up the smell of bacon filled the room, I jumped out of bed and walked down the steps.

"Morning," Mark said as he flipped a pancake.

"Hello." My voice came out shy.

"How did you sleep?"

"That bed is wonderful!" I smiled.

"I am glad, eat up." He put a plate full of pancakes and bacon on the table. "I am going to check your clothes."

"Are you going to eat?"

"I will."

I watched him leave with Chica following. I sat at the table not touching the food. I want to wait for him to come back. It's not fair. I played with my fingers as I sat there waiting, after some time he came back up.

"You didn't eat?" He looked confused.

"I wanted to wait for you." again my voice came out shy.

"Thank you, but please eat."

I nodded my head then fixed my plate, he sat down across from me and fixed his plate.

"Am I going home today?" I asked playing with the bacon.

"I am going to take you to your friend's house."

"I lied."I blurted out. "Her mom kicked me out." The tears poured out, "I tried to go over last night to get a few of my things but no one answered. I am so sorry for lying."

"What do you still have at that place?" He asked calmly.

Fred, I need my Fred.

"A few things,"  I said.

"Okay, we can go over and get those things."

"Then I guess I am back on the street."

"Who said anything about you living on the street?"

I looked up at him.

"You are not kicking me out?"

"Why would I do that? You need help, and I am not going to kick you when you are down. I will take care of you." His smile was warm.

"I can help pay for rent and pay for food!"

"I am not taking money from you, but you do need to eat so we can get your things."

"Thank you."

The pancakes were so fluffy! I want to eat them for the rest of my life!

Mark gave me the clothes that I had from last night, they are all clean. I don't think I remember seeing this shirt so clean.  He helped me into the car then I gave him directions to Molly's place.

"Please, stay out here," I said low.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, she hates me, I don't want her to hate you too." I got out of the car and headed to the front door.

"What do you want?" Her mom barked at me when she opened the door.

"My things." I looked down at the ground.
