Chapter 16

Maria's POV

I opened my eyes and was met with my father's palace. "this place is beautiful" I said taking in the scenery.  "so what do you think?" my father asked me. "this place looks amazing."  I said in astonishment. "just wait until you see the inside," Father explained to me. "wait..." I looked up and saw fish swimming above me. "are we...underwater?" I asked him. "yeah, as my child you have the ability to breathe underwater and you can talk to sea creatures and even horses" I looked at him in shock "I can do all that?" I asked hoping he wasn't lying. "Yep, you can do all that" "that's so cool," I said earning a laugh from my father. "glad you think so, but c'mon let me show you the inside" father said swimming towards the entrance. I swam after him with excitement. The palace doors opened and I was met with a grand staircase. "woah..." I said looking at the palace. "Amphitrite, Triton could you come here please" Father called out. I woman with light blue skin and long black hair which went down a little past her shoulder. she was followed by a guy with light green skin and the same color hair only it was short; only reaching past his ears. 

"you must be Maria," she said giving me a hug. " your father has told me so much about you," she said causing me to smile. "Nice to meet you too," I said hugging her back. she released the hug and I was introduced to my half-brother. "nice to meet you, Maria"  "likewise Triton" "glad to see you're all getting along" father said smiling at us. "why wouldn't we?" Amphitrite asked Father. "well if I recall you weren't this nice to Percy," Father said causing them to smile sheepishly "we want to turn over a new leaf, so we're going to apologize to Percy the next time we see him" Amphitrite explained. "well it's obvious that you haven't been to the surface recently" Amphitrite gave Father a weird look "why? what's going on?" she asked him "Percy and Thalia have both gone missing," Father said surprising both Amphitrite and Triton. "you're joking right?" Triton asked him. "I wish I was Triton but...they're both gone," Father said sighing. he then looked down at me "you ready to start?" he asked me. I only nodded. "ok then, follow me,"

A few weeks have passed and Father said I've been making amazing progress. I still haven't mastered my powers as I can only hold a little under 1000 gallons of water. "how was that?" I asked putting the water back. "good, very good," He said with a smile. "before you know it you'll be better than me" I rolled my eyes "you're an Olympian, I don't think I'll be able to surpass you" Father just shrugged. "we never know," I went to respond when Triton ran into the room breathing heavy. "thalia...found....Olympus " he said in between breaths "Triton breath..." Father said. Triton eventually regained his breath. "They found Thalia, she's at Mt.Olympus," Triton explained. "I'll take Maria up with me, I'll be back soon" Father flashed us to Olympus and we were met with a surprisingly quiet counsel and even Artemis's Hunt. Everyone looked at us before looking down. "What's going on, I heard Thalia has been found," Father then noticed the mood "What's wrong?" He asked the council. Zeus was the one to speak "well brother...Percy is still missing"Father just looked down and sighed. I grabbed his hand hoping to give him some kind of comfort. he looked at me with a small smile before sighing again. "ok thanks brother, tell Thalia I'm glad she's ok" he said and walked out of the throne room, me following closely behind him.
