Samuel Colt's house.

I opened the door and looked around "hello?"

suddenly water got thrown in my face.

I grimaced "Okay, not a demon! Not a demon! Just -- just a hunter. "

Samuel Colt asked confused " You're what?"

Me "You Samuel Colt? My name is Elena Singer. I'm -- I'm a hunter from the year 2018. "

Samuel Colt "Prove it. "

I took my Iphone out of my corset and handed it to him. Samuel looked at it and head back to his desk.

Samuel Colt " All right. "

He put the phone on the bookshelf behind the desk.

I raised an eyebrow "that's it? "

Samuel Colt " Well, when you've done this job as long as I have...a attractive girl from the future with some magic brick doesn't exactly give you the vapors. "

Me " I need your help killing a Phoenix. "

Samuel Colt raised his eyebrows "A Phoenix? They exist? "

Me "Well, you shoot one in about three hours. "

Samuel Colt " If you say so. "

I shook my head "You do."

I handed him his journal.

Samuel Colt looked at it "That's...I'm either too drunk or not drunk enough. So what is it I'm about to exactly do? "

Me " Well, the Phoenix is in Sunrise, so, uh, if we leave now, you can --"

Samuel Colt "I appreciate your situation, but I'm not gonna be of any help to you. I'm booked. "

I raised an eyebrow "huh?"

Samuel Colt " Don't believe everything that you read. "

Me "you're a hunter. "

Samuel Colt " Retired. "

I shook my head " The only way a hunter stops being one is if he dies. You look pretty alive to me""

Samuel Colt "I'm out. "

I shook my head amused "There is no getting out. Look, for what it's worth, in my time, you're a hero. "

Samuel Colt asked surprised "Me?"

I nodded "Yes, sir. "

He laughed.

I sighed "Now, look, we -- we need to kill this Phoenix. Its ashes are the only thing that can kill the monster I'm hunting. So stow your crap for a few hours, and let's go. We got to go now. So, either you're coming with me, or I need the gun. "

Samuel Colt "What gun?"

Me " The gun. "

Samuel Colt " Oh, that gun. I lost it in a game of Stud. "

I raised an eyebrow "You're lying. "

Samuel Colt " Am I? Now, that doesn't sound like me. "

Me " You shot a couple of demons with it less than an hour ago."

Samuel Colt froze "How do you figure? "

I pointed at the bootprints on the ground "two pairs of bootprints. Cabin reeks of sulfur."

He nodded " Not bad. "

The he opened his jacket and i saw the Colt in its holster "You don't want it. It's a curse. Believe me. "
