Sam "Bobby? Bobby? Hey, hey, hey, hey. Hold on. "

Dean "Lena, is he dead?"

I felt dad's neck for a pulse.

 Dean"Elena, Is he dead?! "

I breathed out relieved "he's breathing. There's a pulse. "

Dean took his cell phone out and started to cal people "hey, baby, Keep him upright. Stop the bleeding. "

I snapped "I'm not an idiot, Dean! I know first aid for a friggin' bullet to the head!"

Dean said into the phone "I need the nearest trauma center... What's the address?! ...."

I looked at Dad and sobbed out"I'm so sorry, dad .I didn't mean it, please. Don't leave me. You can't leave me. Dad, please!"

 HOSPITAL TRAUMA ROOM – NIGHT.

The boys and i were standing in Dad's room where the docs were taking care of dad.

Nurse "Gunshot wound to the right frontal area, no exit wound found. Breathing spontaneously. Respiratory rate 18 and shallow. RST at 120. BP 90 over 60. GCS 5. "

Doctor" Push 80 grams of Mannitol over 30. Prep for intubation. "

I was done with my nerves.

Nurse " Air entry clear to bases. "

Doctor "Let's get a central line in here now. "

Me "What's happening? Please just tell us – "

Doctor "Get them out of here."

A Nurse walked to us" Sorry. You need to stay out of their way. "

Another nurse was cutting open Bobby's shirt.

Me "He's my father"

The nurse sighed "You got to stay back. "

Sam "What are they doing? "

Nurse "We need to get him stable. "

I nodded "Okay, when are you gonna take the bullet out?"

Nurse"If we can get the swelling down, if it's in a place we can get to, if – "

Sam "If he even lives that long. "

I looked at Sam, frozen.

The Nurse pulled a curtain shut across the door to the trauma room.

----

I was leaning against the wall close to having a break down.

Suddenly the doc walked out of Dad's room and walked over to me.

Doc " He's, uh, stable for the moment. Just have to see. "

i looked over to dad and my heart broke.

Doctor " I'm sorry. We just have to wait. We'll see if the swelling goes down. "

Dean walked over to me "How long?"

Doctor" It's hard to say in cases like this. "

Me "Well, he's lasted this long. That's something, right? "

Doctor nodded "Well, yes. Listen – the bullet didn't shatter. Only one hemisphere of his brain was injured. These are all positive things. But...I don't want to give you false hope here. He's far from out of the woods. Most of the time, cases like this... "

Sam" They die."

I looked at him. I did not like Sam's behavior at all.

The doc nodded "Right now it comes down to him. I'll keep you updated. "
