Next day. Morning. at the hospital.

Sam was lying with his eyes closed in a hospital bed. There was a tube in his nose and his arm is strapped to a beeping monitor.

He's been out for hours now.

Dean was sitting next to me in the chair.

I looked at the TV. Photos of the falling angels were on there. The news headline read "Global Meteor Shower."

Me "They are calling it a meteor shower but - Dean, what the hell happened when you went with Cas?"

He just looked at Sam.

I looked at Sam and sighed. Then i put a hand on Dean's shoulder and he looked at me.

Me "Dean"

He shook his head "Angels aren't our problem right now. Or demons, or Metatron, or whatever the hell happened to Cas. "

I nodded "I know. Dean, you said it yourself – we're not gonna sleep till this is done. "

He nodded "I know. "

I looked at Sam and my voice cracked "he's dying, isn't he?"

Dean looked down, nodding.

-------------

Dean and i were looking at medical scans. Sam was still out cold.

Doc " The MRI shows massive internal burns affecting many of the major organs. Oxygen to the brain has been severely deprived. The coma is the result of the body doing everything in its limited power to protect itself from further harm. "

Dean shook his head "This wasn't supposed to happen. "

Doc "If your brother continues on this trajectory, the machines might keep him alive, but – "

Dean "He'll be dead. "

The Doc nodded "Technically, yes. I'm afraid so. "

Dean "So, there's – there's no recovery? I mean, there's no bounce-back. There's no nothing. "

The Doc shook his head "I'm afraid that's in God's hands now. "

Dean turned aggressiv "You're a doctor. You're a medical professional. You're trying to tell me that my brother's life is in God's hands? What, is that supposed to be a – a comfort? "

Doc "Mr. Dougherty – "

Dean shook his head "No, God has nothing to do with this equation at all. "

Doc "I didn't mean – "

Dean shook his head "That's not good enough. "

Then he stormed out.

I sighed and looked at the doc "I'm so sorry. He's jus-"

The doc nodded "i know. I understand"

I gave him a sad smiled "Thanks"

The doc nodded and walked out.

I sighed and looked at Sam.

---

Dean walked back into the room and i looked up to him.

Me "where were you?"

He looked at Sam.

I stood up and walked over to him "Dean, what did you do?"

He didn't say anything.

I put a hand on his shoulder and froze "why are you feeling quilt and shame? what did you do?"
