It was a warm day out and Alex was busy in his garage working on his latest car, the engine was busted and he didn't know how much longer the car itself would last before completely removing itself from life. He stood up and sighed, then put the hood down and slammed his wrench against it.
"Dammit!" he yelled in anger, he was only trying to fix it to go surprise bandit on their third year dating anniversary. Now he would have to walk and he knew it. They didn't live with eachother yet and he was planning on asking his hand in marrage the same night. He sighed and left his garage, kicking the back tire of his car on the way out: his bandages were dirty and his fur was mopped. He hopped in the shower and exchanged his bandages, but looking in the mirror he saw that wasn't going to do. He rushed to his room and pulled out a tuxedo that he was saving for this moment, it fit like a glove. He smiled in the mirror and slapped his ass, "I look hot." he said as he straightened and fixed his bright purple bowtie.
He sighed and glimpsed the clock, then packed his bags. He packed deodorant and cologne, also some basic pampering stuff. Then the final thing to pack, he mentally prepared himself and grabbed the small box from his bathroom counter and pocketed it.
He headed out, locking the door behind him, and started the long trek to his lovers home. After about an hour of walking it started to pour rain, Alex yelled out angrily; this gained a few concerned and worried straws from onlookers. He then bolted to Bandits house, caful not to slip. As soon as he got there he was breathless and tired, he knocked quickly and the door opened just as fast.
"There you are, come in," Bandit rushed Alex in. Alex was soaked from head to toe. He sighed his thanks and his lover helped him out of his soaked overcoat, bowtie, and bag. The wet coat was left by the door and Alex rushed to the bathroom.
He sighed angrily and leaned against the door, his back to the wood. His hair soaking and his shirt was more wet. He was soaked to the bone and hated it at that.
He buried his face in his hands as soft, salty, tears streamed from his eyes.
He slid down the door into a sitting position against it when there was a sudden knock, it was bandit.
"Alex, are you ok?"
He knocked again, "Alex? Please open the door."
Alex stood and reluctantly opened the door, he was dripping with water and sadness. When Bandit saw his lover in a horrible state he wrapped his arms around his chest in an embrace which Alex copied. Alex pulled back and rubbed his damp face and eyes, "I'm sorry. I ruined our night didn't I?" he asked with resentment clear on his face.
Bandit shook his head, "no way, we can fix this."
Alex nodded, "I'll clean off."
"Sure, I'll wash your clothes while you're in there."
"Yeah, thanks," he replied finally shutting the door and locking it. He undid the buttons on his shirt and got ready for a warm shower.
Bandit headed downstairs after standing at the door for a moment, but he stood to his word of cleaning Alex's clothes while he was in the shower. He tossed his clothes in a quick wash on the washing machine but knew the coat would need to be hand scrubbed. He checked the pockets to make sure there was nothing and felt something in the left pocket.
He took it out and realised why Alex was so upset about ruining the night. He understood and tears welled in his eyes as he looked at the little, black box.
