Kantis was in her backyard, a soft wool hoodie over her head and eyes, the cool grass beneath her. She lay quietly on her back staring up at the slowly shifting clouds. A gentle wind blew against her but it was a warm day, a perfect day. She smiles slightly, the sun shining and warming up the visible part of her face. The bright cat had drifted off to sleep before she could realize it, although she would have normally gotten up and went inside, she didn't. She didn't always hate the outdoors, only sometimes and those times were few and far between the times she did hate it.
When she opened her eyes, the sun was still high in the sky, it had been only about an hour from when she'd fallen asleep. She squinted slightly before a shadow cast over her face. "Oh jeez, I'm so glad you're alive..." The timid voice of her shy girlfriend floated into Kantis's ears, "I thought something had happened, you're usually like this on the couch."
Kantis sat up and stretched, yawning slightly, "Yeah, yeah, no I'm fine, don't worry about me. How did you get here, Flakey?"
"Erm..." Flakey paused, "The front door was unlocked and you weren't responding to my texts."
"Oh sorry!" Kantis patted her pockets slightly before holding her arm up, Flakey helped her stand, "I must've left my phone inside, haha!"
Flakey joined in, her laugh was usually quite nervous. They stood eye to eye with each other for a few minutes before Flakey cleared her throat, "Did you want to, erm, go inside?"
-
"Huh?" Kantis sat up and rubbed her eyes, she looked around her backyard and sighed. She checked her pockets and found her phone, pulling it out to see many missed calls and texts. She sighed as the phone buzzed, Flakey's name and image flashed up on the screen, she answered. "Hello?"
"You've ignored me all day! And yesterday! I was tempted to break into your house but then I saw Cuddles was over. I knew you two were friends but I didn't think you'd cheat on me with him!" Flakey's voice came through, she wasn't calm but her voice was so impish and fragile that Kantis felt she could break it through the phone.
"Look, I didn't realize he was-"
"Oh, you didn't realize he was over? That's interesting because he walked right in as if you were expecting something!" She emphasized the last part of her sentence with a small growl.
"I didn't-"
"That's it, I don't want to hear your excuses! I called to see what was wrong but I didn't think you'd try to deny it! Can't we just be honest, I have emotions too!" Flakey tried to spit out like a viper but it didn't work, her voice was too soft t be effective.
Kantis sighed as Flakey hung up. Flakey never acted like that, her feelings must've been really hurt. She usually never jumps to conclusions either, something must be wrong. Kantis turned and walked over to her house, opening the backdoor, entering, and grabbing her keys. She planned to go visit Flakey at her house and personally apologize. She loved Flakey more than anyone and didn't want them to be over, it would hurt her too much. Kantis wiped a tear with a furry paw and sighed again, before stepping back out into the rising dark.
