I edged in, afraid that he was still awake. Luckily, I could hear gentle snores coming from him. I guess he falls asleep quite quick. Treading quickly and carefully, I looked for my phone in the room. My phone rang again. This time I could see the faint light of the caller display light up. It was on the window sill. Great! All I had to do was grab my phone. But how to do that when there's a 6-foot assailant in between me and the window? I looked to the floor. There were spaces where, if I got my footing right I could avoid touching him and waking him up. Now that I had my mission in my head, I planned to carry it out. I tip-toed in between his sprawled out limbs and managed to get to the other side. I grabbed my phone and planned my escape. All I had to do was follow the same pattern that I did when I was coming here. Right foot near his left shoulder; left foot near the right side of his hip bone and then I'd have to bring my right foot again in between his knees and I'd be safe. I'd be able to get out of there... right? Wrong!!
I did the first manoeuvre and the second but just as I was about to the last one, he moved. He had his arms wrapped around my calve. Aish!! Ottoke??! Trying to slowly get my calf out of his grip, I cursed colourfully internally. The more I pulled, the tighter his grip got.
"Honey... when...did... you... come...? Stay...with me. Naeng... dam... Han... Na... Chuwo... Apa..." he mumbled in his sleep. Did I just imagine it, or did he just say my name? I must have imagined it. I NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE!! I yanked my calve out of his grip and sped out of there.
"Annyeonghi gaseyo. I'll take your leave now," I said as I rushed towards the door. I did a quick bow and ran out of there. "De. Annyeonghi gaseyo," I heard them chorus as I fled.
Just as the door was closing, I heard Wonshik say "well... Who's going to tell me how she got hurt?" I couldn't hear the reply. I just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. I headed towards the lift and pushed the button to call for it. I could feel my tears swelling up inside of me. I made sure that I held on until the lift had come up to my floor. Just hold on. Soon. Soon... you'll be able to let it all out...I checked the time on my phone to distract me. 3am, it read.
7 missed calls, 5 new messages the notifications read. I dismissed them. I opened the call log and saw that there were 3 missed calls from Min, 2 missed calls from my boss and 2 missed calls from an unknown number. I thought about calling my boss back, then I realised the time. 'Never mind,' I thought, 'let him sleep. I'll hassle him tomorrow morning.'
The lift arrived. The doors slid open and I went in. I was alone in the lift. I eventually decided to open my message notifications. Curiosity got the better of me.
Hey Hun. How are you? How's the first day of the job going? Is it good? Is it bad? Let me know. Min.
Hey Hun. Just checking up on you. Haven't heard anything from you yet. Call me on your break or whenever your free, OK? Min.
Hey Hun, don't get worried if you don't find me at home. I've got to work late today. Don't wait up. Min.
Hey Hun. I brought some food over for you. It's noodles. You know how to make them don't you? I'm really sorry that I won't be there tonight. Min.
Miss Bae, please contact me soon. It is urgent. I need to talk to you regarding your job with VIXX. Hwang Se-Jun. CEO of Jellyfish Entertainment
I read the messages as I walked towards my shared apartment. The last one caught received the most attention from me. I managed to rattle the door open and immediately slumped down on the settee.
'My job,' I thought, 'what does he want to talk to me about my job?'
