She had the same eyes as him, same blonde hair that held a hint of white in them and the same beautiful facial structure that all Malfoys could call their own. Yet she was nothing like him at all. Her eyes were always bright and shining and her smile seemed to never leave her face. It came to no surprise to Draco that his cousin hadn't been sorted into Slytherin like all his family members were supposed to, like they had been for generations.

Though to his own surprise it didn't bother him in the slightest but his family was another matter entirely. They would not be pleased by this, more so because not only hadn't she been sorted into Slytherin but Hufflepuff of all houses.

"Draco? You okay?" You wave your hand frantically in front of his eyes, trying to get his attention. The 20 minute conversation you just had had with your cousin felt more like a monologue because he didn't look like he heard a single word of what you had been saying.

"You're ignoring me!" Putting your hands to your hips, you make a pouting face and try to give him your best glare.

Draco laughs at your poor attempt to look even remotely intimidating. There wasn't a mean bone in your body. It wouldn't suit you anyway, he liked the cheerful girl before him.

Truth be told, he had always had a slight crush on. It wasn't anything serious, probably just the fact that whenever he needed someone to talk to, there you were listening to his whining and ramblings every time.

"I'm not ignoring you..." He ruffles your hair with a smile, despite your attempt at trying to stop him from doing so, "...stop complaining."

"Hey Draco...?" You look down to the ground, voice getting weaker and trailing off into the distance, "Do you think mum and dad will be okay with this?"

Knowing his aunt and uncle, they certainly wouldn't be. You both knew it but he couldn't bring himself to tell you that, crushing even the tiniest of hope that was still left. So Draco did what he usually did and lied, though this time to prevent harm and not actually cause it.

"They won't mind, don't worry."

"Huh..."

He puts his arms around you, pulling you against his shoulder as you keep walking along the corridors to the great hall, "You'll always have me by your side."
