14. Saving You

Jasper saving you

Everybody was convinced you two were meant to be, especially Alice. But honestly? You just couldn't see it and apparently neither could Jasper.

You got the feeling he didn't like you very much and you just didn't trust him. To be fair you didn't trust men in general. Which you knew wasn't right but you just had been through enough in your life and didn't need another disappointment.

After everyone constantly nagging you about the situation the entire morning, you decided it was time to get out of the house for a bit. Nothing's better to get a clear head than a long walk in the woods after all.

You walked in silence, listening to the birds as they fly through the trees. The sunlight was dim but still beautiful as you stopped for a moment to take in your surroundings.

„Y/N!" You hear Jasper's voice behind you. He rarely sought you out and when he did it usually wasn't a very pleasant conversation. You roll your eyes and keep walking, jumping over the little river in front of you.

„Y/N!" You hear again, „Stop."

„What?" You turn around annoyed and see him jumping at you, pushing you down to the ground. You hit your head, consciousness quickly slipping away. The last thing you hear is a growl before the darkness overcomes your senses. You had accidentally walked over in their territory.

When you woke up you were back in your room. It was still day, so you hadn't been knocked out for too long.

You got into a sitting position and started humming, quietly singing along the song that was going through your head. A habit you had developed over the years, though only when no one was around.

But tonight I'll make you feel beautiful once again

Jasper walks up to your room when he hears you being awake. He stops in the door frame not wanting to intrude.

„Jasper." You stop your humming when you realize you're not alone and look over to the door. He comes into the room and nods.

„How are you feeling?" Jasper asks while his hand is stroking your head for a moment before he quickly pulls back.

„I'm fine...thank you." You reply and give him a warm smile. Something you couldn't remember ever doing. He returns the gesture and sits down next to you on the bed.

„You should really watch where you're going."

„Well thanks for the tip." You say and roll your eyes, „I have noticed."

„Just saying, I'm not always around to save you." He says with a grin, his hand on your head again as he slowly moves it through your hair.

Maybe the others had been right all along, this wasn't so bad.
