7. Egg

Egg

Summary: You find out an interesting fact about eggs but the avenger team reject the idea of being beaten by and egg.

You were doing a science experiment for one of your classes and you stumbled upon a fact about eggs, that you can't break them vertically. You have been trying for a few minutes to try to prove the fact wrong, but you couldn't, you were quite impressed. At the time of your struggling with the egg, Peter walks in. Looking at you with amusement and confusion.

"You alright there, babe?" His voice startles you, making you jump and throw the egg at him out of fright. He catches it mid-air, once you release who it is you release a puff of air.

"You can't do that." You breathe out with your hand on your racing heart.

"Sorry, babe didn't mean to startle you. What are you doing with this?" Peter asks while inspecting the egg. You thought to see if Peter was able to do it, due to him being stronger than you.

"Try and break the egg by placing your index finger on the point and your thumb on the bottom." Peter does what you say and adds pressure, trying to break the egg.

You can see the struggle that he's going through with his hand shaking and face going red by the force that he's putting in. He releases the pressure with a huff.

"You did something to it, didn't you?" Peter asks, not believing that he got beaten by an egg. You laugh at his accusation.

"No, I didn't, it's straight from the fridge." You see Peter's face light up, meaning that he has an idea. Oh god, what is he thinking now? Suddenly he rushes out the room, you quickly follow him to see what he's up to.

Peter eventually gets to his destination. The meeting table in the middle of the Avenger's tower. You see Mr Stark sitting in one of the chairs with a newspaper in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other.

"Mr Stark. Check what (Y/N) discovered." Peter exclaims, his voice bouncing off the white walls of the tower. Tony looks up from his paper, mildly interested.

"What is it?" He asks from his seat. Peter walks closer to him while you follow behind Peter. Tony puts his cup and newspaper down on the table. His attention fully on Peter now.

"Take this egg and try to break it vertically." Tony looks taken aback due to the stupid request, slightly annoyed too. He sighs and takes the egg from Peter's hand and puts his fingers in place and adds pressure. Tony's neck tendons strain and his hand start to shake, much like Peter's reaction. Tony lets go of the pressure from the egg and gives it back to Peter.

"I don't have time for stupid games like this, now, will you excuse me, I have work to do," Tony states while getting up from his seat, picking up his coffee and walking towards his lab. You look at Peter and shrug your shoulders. You had an idea. What if you gave it to Bruce? Maybe he could break it.

You take the egg from Peter and rush to find Bruce.

"Hey, (Y/N)! Wait up!" You hear your boyfriend's voice from behind you, catching up. You find Bruce in the kitchen fixing himself a snack.

"Hey, Bruce. Do you by any chance have some time to spare?" You ask with a small smile. Bruce looks up at the two of you and places his knife down on the table, giving you his full attention.

"Sure, what can I do for you?" He asks, wiping his hands on a dishtowel next to him.

"Can you break this egg vertically?" You ask, handing Bruce the egg. He looks at it in confusion, wondering why you asked him.

"Uh. Okay." He says confused. He places his fingers in position and puts pressure on the egg. He stares at the egg, thinking it would make a difference in the breaking of the egg. He stops and lets out a puff of air out of his mouth. He tries again, this time determined to break this egg. You and Peter watch in amusement at the Avenger, not wanting to accept the fact that an egg has defeated him. So much so that you see his neck turning a pale green.

You reach your arm forward to calm him down before he turns into the hulk and bursts through the roof.

"Hey, it's okay. It's just an egg." You say, gently taking the egg out of his hand. He looks at you and nods. Going back to his snack that he was making.

You and Peter were going to go back to your room when you see Mr Stark in his Iron Man suit. You have got to be kidding me.

"Give me the egg." He demands, determination thick in his voice. You look to Peter to see if he was also confused and he was. You look back at Tony and slowly give him the egg. He snatches it out of your hand, causing you to jump back. Peter places his arm around your waist to help you find your balance.

Tony traps his hand around the egg, still sticking to the rules and adds pressure. A few seconds later you hear him say,

"F.R.I.D.A.Y, active super strength." You and Peter couldn't help but laugh at Tony and him not being able to accept that he can't break an egg.

Eventually, Tony gives up and gives you back the unscathed egg.

"Take back your demon egg." He says before walking back to his lab defeated.

You look at Peter and couldn't help but laugh. Not believing that the Avengers couldn't defeat an egg.
