After you and the others had gotten a mission from the Clave in which you had to investigate the Hotel Dumort in search of demon activity in the area, Alec sent you, Jace and Izzy to acomplish that mission. You didn't really mind, since you would be able to see your boyfriend, even thought no one knew about your relationship. Jace was a little mad, not the biggest fan of visiting the vampires, but Izzy was ecstatic, she, like everyone else, didn't know about your relationship with Raphael Santiago, but she knew you had feelings for him and she was sure she could make him like you back.

Equipped and all ready, you and your bestest friends leave the Institute to the Hotel Dumort. When in there, Raphael was already waiting for you to arrive. Jace and Izzy explain further to him why they are there and the vampire makes eye contact with you. Nodding your head to him, you take off to investigate the lower floors whith Jace and Izzy makes sure that Raphael goes with her to the upper floors.

After cheking twice for any signs of demons, you and Jace go to the floor where it was decided they were going to meet with the other two when finished. Getting there, Jace, who was ahead of you, stops by the half-open door and makes a sign for you to stop as well. You do as he ask and get a grip on your Seraph blade, ready to attack if needed, but instead you only hear Raphael and Izzy talking.

- So... Got eyes on anyone, Raphael? - Izzy asks with an innocent tone.

- Not really. Why do you ask, Shadowhunter? - He answers coldly, not sounding interested and you look at Jace with a confused expression "Why are we listening to their conversation?" You think and the blond only signs for you to wait.

- Just curious. You know you can't be alone forever, right? There's this friend of mine-

- If it's a shadowhunter, you can put your hopes down. I would never, and I repeat, never get involved with a shadowhunter like that. Now would you mind go looking for your partners? They're taking too long. - Raphael doesn't let Izzy finish what she was saying and raises slightly his voice.

You take a step back when you hear what he says, with widened eyes you look at Jace again, seeing regret on his face.

- (Y/N), are you alright? - He questions in a whisper, making you realize he and Izzy had planned for you to listen to the talk with Raphael so they could set you two up.

- It's fine, Jace. - You answer, almost inaudible and tears make their way to your eyes, so you start walking to the closest exit.

You and Raphael were in a secret relationship for almost a year now, and you knew it was supposed to remain a secret for a long time, but you never expected him to say something like that with such disdain. Did he not really want to be with you? Does he not truly likes you? Maybe he really doesn't, after all, he never said he loved you.

You hear Jace calling out your name, but you keep walking, not seeing that Izzy and Raphael had come out of the room they were, nor the regret on the vampire's face.

Before you can even blink, Raphael shows up in front of you with his hands up, saying things to try to calm you down, not successful. You push him away and get to the elevator, but he doesn't give up and pulls you into him.

- Please, listen to me. – Is all he says, hoping for you to do so.

- There's nothing else I need to listen. A shadowhunter like me doesn't deserve, anyway. – The hurt is his eyes broke your heart and you turned away, seeing Jace and Izzy inside the elevator, waiting for you there, guilt in their eyes.

- I didn't mean that, and you should know it. – Raphael holds you tighter, careful not to hurt you. – I didn't know you were listening.

- But why would you say such a thing, there was no need to!

- How would I know she was talking about you? Mi amor, please, don't leave me. – He says with a low voice.

- And how do I know you don't really mean that?! You didn't even hesi-

He kisses you before you can finish, leaving you with no reaction. After he pushes away, he caresses your cheek with his thumb.

- Because I'm already involved with you, a shadowhunter. And I love you. – His eyes observe yours deeply and you feel your heart skip a bit, letting yourself relax in his embrace.

- I'm sorry. – It's the only thing you say, with a weak voice and you hear the elevator doors closing, notifying you that your friends left.

- There's no need for apologies, mi amor. I believe it's my fault. Now let me pay for my wrong doings.

He lifts you up on his arms and takes you to his room, where you both spend the rest of the afternoon talking, laughing and loving each other.
