Love was the last thing you expected to find when you joined King Oropher's royal guard. Some new skills and perhaps a noble ranking was what you initially had in mind, but when you first laid eyes on Prince Thranduil, you knew life would never be the same.

Greenwood was a grand place, but there was evil beginning to seep past the borders- spiders bigger than steeds with long fangs that dripped with poison. You felt a desire to protect your kin from this rising force as soon as you heard word of it, so you picked up your sword and enlisted the army.

Since then, a new chapter of life was being lived. You felt strong, enabled, and responsible, and served the crown with unwavering loyalty. You had friends, too. Your roommate, Linrel, had been your best friend the moment she claimed top bunk. She was blonde, tall, and rather arrogant. But her good sense of humor made the dark times light.

Recently, King Oropher was letting his son, Thranduil, lead hunting groups that patrolled the forest for spiders. Thranduil was a resourceful and smart young ellon. And though he tried to appear cold, you easily saw his caring heart through those sparkling blue eyes. Those brilliant, dazzling blue eyes of his...

You knew there was a crush for him growing within you, and the thoughts of him filled your dreams every night.

When Thranduil had first been asked by his father to lead a patrol for the first time, he was rather reluctant in accepting. He internally doubted his ability to be a strong leader of such a mission, but knew his father would want him to be confident and willing to take up any challenge.

His attitude changed though, when he saw you among his royal guard. You were a (h/c) haired beauty with a smile brighter than the moon. And when your sparkling (e/c) eyes met his, he felt a fire ignite in his heart. You were the one for him, he knew. Months later, he wished he could only act on it.

He tried, honestly tried not to be a shy, flustered mess around you, but it was a lost cause. Every time he saw you, his face would glow pink and his palms sweaty. It was an amusing show for his few friends, who constantly teased him about it.

"Mellon nin," they teased him one day, "you must talk to the lady."

Just as he was going to reply with yet another pathetic excuse, you came riding past on your horse, laughing at something your friend next to you had said. He successfully kept his lips in their usual straight line, but he couldn't help the blush that dusted his cheeks.

Thranduil's friends saw his reaction and took great delight in slapping his arm and howling in a suggestive manner

Thranduil's friends saw his reaction and took great delight in slapping his arm and howling in a suggestive manner. He whipped around and glared them, and they muffled their laughter in their palms.

"Shut up!" he whisper shouted.

"As you command, hir nin," they said mockingly. "But as we were saying, you must talk to her- before it's too late!"
