 Chapter Three

After lunch Vivian and I headed back to our dorm.

It's Fall Fest weekend this weekend so today is the last day campus will be quiet, so I should probably get some work done. Also knowing my best friend, we'll be out all weekend. Orgs throw parties, tomorrow there will be a mini fair, and in town on Sunday there will be a flea market that i love going to. Vivian will definitely want to go out tonight, but hasn't mentioned it yet, so I might as well get a move on.

When the two of us met Freshman Year it was actually at a party.

College was meant to be a fresh start for me. I didn't have a horrible past or high school experience that I needed to forget or anything, but I was itching to get out of my very small town. All of my High School friends went off on their own directions, and it was just time. It was a very mild High School experience in all honesty. We all still keep in touch of course, but we are all on our paths of self discovery now, so to speak.

Someone had handed me a flyer for a party and I thought, "why the heck not?" I could be the type of person who goes out.

Vivian is the type of girl that if she sees you alone, she'll walk over and engage in conversation. She enjoys being social, in a different way than I do.

That's what she did with me. I was standing on the side, observing my surroundings, nursing a beer, and Vivian came over and asked if I wanted to dance, in a non gay way I remember her clarifying that.

"Hey, what are you all alone?"

"Oh uh, I came by myself... wanted to check out the party scene."

"Well look at that, so did I. Would you maybe want to dance? In a totally non gay very much platonic way?"

I had laughed at the wording, and we danced all night.

Vivian just loves to dance, something she has semi passed on to me. She doesn't, we don't, drink every time we go out. She just wants to get lost in the music. Vivian is a dancer. Not officially in a major or minor capacity, although she did take whatever dance classes Lotus offers. Watching her is contagious, hence she's passed on her love for going out to dance to me.

I pull out my notes from class this morning and start to type them up while Vivian opens up a book for her English class.

My Greek Mythology and Culture comparison course is the one class that I always want to dedicate the most time to but really don't need to. I should be reading my boring Neuroscience textbook, but I prefer to type up my notes.

The two of us sit quietly for the next couple hours doing whatever school work we have. The busy work was good for me, but also gave me time to think.

If Vivian does want to go out tonight, I'll go with her. But I'll keep my wits about me. Fall Fest brings out all of the students who don't usually go out and all of the ones who do. It's a very school spirit inducing festivity that is extremely entertaining.

So odds are, Emma Laughley will be out and about this weekend, and I'll finally be able to get my closure. It sounds selfish to say I need closure seeing as it didn't happen to me, but maybe when she sobered up, she changed her mind.

After awhile, I realize Vivian isn't going to bring it up, so I do, nonchalantly, "So, excited for Fall Fest?"

Vivian looks up from her laptop with a big grin, "I'm a genius, reverse psychology for the win. Are you sure that you're the psychology major?"

I roll my eyes at her, of course she did it on purpose.

"It was getting late for you. I mean six o'clock Viv? You need to be stuffing your carbs so you won't get trashed." I wink at her.
