Chapter Twenty Six

"How am I supposed to know what to wear without Vivian's help?" I scream at Dio after about an hour of throwing clothes at him.

We both decided to ditch the rest of our non-mandatory classes in order to get me ready for this date. By the both of us, I mean I told Dio if he wanted to remain my placeholder best friend, he had to come help, and Dio doesn't actually care about his classes seeing as he is a God and all.

"If you are about to cry. I need a warning." Dio says, biting into the chocolate bar he demanded I give him as incentive.

"I am not going to cry." I tell him, "I just really have no idea what to wear. I'm nervous."

"Just put on the black dress you tried on twenty minute ago." He says back, sounding bored. Dio definitely doesn't have the patience for this.

"The strapless one? But it's freezing!" I exclaim frustrated.

"No the long sleeved one that cut low and hugged your body." He replies.

I rummage through the pile of clothes on my bed and find the dress he is referring too. It's ribbed, and bodycon cotton material, so it'll definitely keep me warm. With tights and bootie heels, it might actually make for something pretty.

"Fine. Turn around while I put it on."

Dio sighs and turns and says, "You know you really shouldn't worry so much about how you look. You never know if I was wrong about this being a date."

I find one of the shoe options I am not using, and chuck it at him.

"OW!" He rubs his shoulder. "I was just kidding."

I braided my hair at the top and curled the bottoms. I even put makeup on. This is a date.

"I'm dressed, you can turn back around."

Dio was right, this was a good choice. Even if this wasn't a date, I could pass this off as just dressing up because of the restaurant.

"Here," He hands me a jacket. "Wear this."

"Where did you find this?"

The jacket he just handed me was that fur jacket that instigated Vivian to come get her things. She left it behind.

"I don't know, on your bed." He shrugs not aware of how big of a deal this is. Or maybe it's nothing, maybe she just forgot it.

"Hey Dio, what did you mean when you told me Hades is a complicated God?" I ask out of curiosity as I touch up my makeup.

"Honey, you don't want to have a bad date before you even start it." Dio gets up and pats my shoulder. "Text you later!"

It was worth a shot.

I've been trying to not let the anxieties of not knowing what Dio means by what he said, or the fact that Hades didn't answer me when I asked, ruin my excitement. Hades will be here any second and I don't want to have my thinking face on.

I snap a mirror selfie so that I can show it to Vivian when when everything blows over. She'll appreciate it. I make sure that it shows off how my red boots match my red lipstick, then wait patiently.

A few moments later there is a knock on the door. I rush over to open it, but then take a deep breath so it doesn't show how excited I am.

Hades is standing there, in the same three piece suit as yesterday, holding a red rose. Hold me, I might swoon.
