HOLY CRAP! NUMBER FIFTEEN IN EROS! It may not seem like a big deal to some because it isn't out of many books, but it's a big deal to me!
Chapter Thirteen
"I don't understand!" I exclaim. "Why is no one doing anything about this?"
Sterling wouldn't let me see, but apparently it was extremely gruesome. Instead we're in the library again.
"I'm not sure." Sterling says, but I don't believe him.
It feels like his holding back some information from me or at least knows more than he is letting on.
"Well at least it wasn't humans this time." I sigh, thankful that no one got hurt.
"Now do you believe me that it's a cult?" Sterling pushes his file folder with his research towards me.
"I'm still not convinced but getting there because this is some fucked up shit."
"Must you use such foul language?" Sterling grimaces.
I just shrug and put the file in my bag.
"Vivian probably thinks I'm nuts for running out on her like I did so I've got to get back. I'll read these, and please keep me updated if you hear anything else."
As soon as I got Sterling's text, I rushed out of Oksana. I told Vivian to grab my things and I'll meet her back at the dorms. I'm sure she called after me to ask why but I wasn't listening.
The campus security were right about it not being safe in the forests. But they really should be patrolling. If they have to turn a blind eye once and awhile so be it, but to have dangerous areas should be unacceptable.
"AZA GRACE!" Vivian shouts when I finally walk into our room. Calvin and Dio are there, Cal on her bed and Dio on my desk chair.
"Sorry about that." I put my things down, and grab my bags that Vivian got for me so that I can hang them up.
"Where was the fire?" She crosses her arms, it outwardly obvious that she is not thrilled with how I suddenly ditched her.
"Sorry something with Sterling came up." I say, then widen my eyes realizing what I just said. I didn't mean to... fuck.
"Oh Sterling you say..." Now she's really mad. "Why is it that JUST now I am hearing that you brought a date to Thanksgiving dinner? And now you come back and this is the first time I have EVER heard his name!"
"Viv, I can ex-"
"No!" She cuts me off. "You have been acting extremely off to me, and I have called you out on it before and trusted you when you said it was nothing. Now I find out that you are hiding things from me? We don't do that. We don't keep secrets."
"Maybe we should go..." Dio makes moves to leave.
"No, Stay." Vivian moves in his way. "I need answers. Who is this Sterling guy? Why did Dio meet him before me? And why have you been acting off?"
I shift uncomfortably, not really good with this kind of confrontation. I already feel guilty enough, and Vivian is so angry.
"I'm sorry." I apologize. "I've just been so stressed, I'm not off, I promise. School drains me, you know that."
I look to her face to see if has softened but it hasn't so I continue,"It honestly slipped my mind."
But I know that's not a good enough excuse, so I repeat the words Sterling said to me, "He is no one."
"No one, that you brought to Thanksgiving."
"He had no family. I didn't want to be rude. He's just a friend, I swear. I didn't mean to hurt you, if I did. You are my best friend, and I do tell you everything. Everything has just been so hectic, and I'm losing it a little."
