Chapter Twenty Two

"Where were Athena and Hera when they were interrogating us?"

Sterling has been really great at answering all of my questions I thought he might get annoyed after a bunch of them but he has been really patient. I learned that Olympus is in fact in Greece where Wikipedia says it is. It is said to be located in the Olympus range on the border between Thessaly and Macedonia. Mount Olympus has 52 peaks and it's highest peak, Mytikas or in Greek Μύτικας, is in fact where Olympus is, but on another magical plane of existence. Apparently on the normal plane, it is really beautiful. It has beautiful flora and fauna that people flock to see.

"Honestly, I am not sure." Sterling replies. "It makes sense that they would attend a meeting like that. But Hera and Zeus' relationship is one that I know not, or understand, the ins and outs of."

"I can imagine." I laugh.

"So now what?" I ask what should be my last question for the night, or should I say morning. It is almost five now. I can't believe I am still awake.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, you've cleared your name in my mind. Although I never re-asked my question about Halloween night." I explain.

I think I'm scared to because I know the answer, and because I don't know what I'll do if I'm right.

"Go ahead." Sterling says in a low and soft voice. "Ask me."

"Why were you really there Halloween night?" I push away my fear. "Did you hear their prayers?"

Without pausing or hesitating, Sterling answers, "Yes."

I suck in my breath. I was right.

"But," He continues, when I look away unsure of what to do about his reveal of the truth. "That does not mean what you think it does. Remember when I told you to focus on cults and Greek Mythology that day in the library?"

I don't say anything, just nod, so that he can continue.

"I did this because for the first time ever, I heard new prayers in my name. Most of the prayers I hear are the same old crap, and not worth paying attention to. Over the years I learned to block out these prayers, but you need to know the source of these prayers in order to be able to do so. This was a new source, I had never heard before." Sterling tells me. "There was something strange about it. It was a used of prayers I had not heard for a very long time. There is no reason for anyone to know it. The descendants of that cult died off long ago, along with the prayers they used. Unless, someone or some god told them to it. This is why I believe someone or some God is setting me up."

"Well then why didn't you tell all of this to Zeus?"

His explanation makes a lot of sense, but I don't like that it is the first time I've heard it.

"It would not have sat well with the court. Zeus and I we don't have the best of relationships, and he likes concrete evidence, especially when it comes to me. And even then, it means someone in Olympus has it out for me."

"And?"

"I am sure that he would not be opposed to whomever this was causing trouble for me. And to what end?"

"I am not sure I am following."

"Let's put aside the grudge Zeus has against me, there must be a reason whomever this is wants me bound to the Underworld, or further punished. What is it?"

He makes a good point. But I don't think it is something I can't get the answer to. I have enough unanswered questions, even with all the ones that Sterling got rid of. I don't need to add this one to a plate.
