Chapter Twenty Four
After leaving Hades, I do all the research I can on Greek Sirens. Hades didn't originally recognize them in their college girl duds, but Tee and Noelle's real names are Thelxiope and Thelxinoe and they are Sirens.
I thought it would make me feel better to know for certain that Delta Zeta has some ties, whatever they might be, to the cult and that it isn't just a vendetta I have against them for taking Vivian away from me. But now I feel worse. The Twins were being menacing and it wasn't all in my head. They have their hooks in Vivian, and I bet they are the reason she is staying irrationally angry at me. They literally stole my voice!
Sirens are dangerous creatures who lure nearby sailors with their enchanting music and singing voices to shipwreck on the rocky coasts of their island. So then what brings them here? It's a long way from home.
I supposed the answer to that must be the cult, but Sirens are too minor to be running the show. Someone brought them here. They are in Delta Zeta for a reason.
My empty room is starting to get really depressing to come home to.
I set a record to play and clean up a bit while thinking about what my next move should be. It probably should be finding out if Dionysus really is my friend or someone I should worry about. Maybe I'll invite him to hang out and nonchalantly ask him questions.
His personality didn't change at all when he found out I knew about Gods being real so that is definitely a good sign.
I may have no idea about what to do with The Twins, or anything else right now, but this I can handle.
'Bored, wanna come over?' I text Dio, with Nirvana playing 'Come As You Are' as my current company.
'Finally ready to admit your undying love for me?' I get back.
'Oh shut up.'
I haven't heard from Avery today, or since I ditched him last night, but that is probably for the better. I know it's a shit thing to ghost someone but it is better than leading him on.
Dio appears about an hour later, my room all clean and record switched to The Front Bottoms. The music makes it feel less empty in here.
"What's up babe-a-licious?" He hugs me before inviting himself to sit on my bed.
"Babe-a-licious?" I laugh at the pet name. He comes up with the weirdest things. "You are such a dork."
"Hey! You are talking to a God here!"
"Which doesn't make you any less than a dork."
"Touche."
I join him on the bed, cross legged.
"What is the God of grape harvest, wine, and theatre doing at Lotus college anyways?" I ask him, curious as to what brought him here.
"Vivian did mention you're a total Greek Mythology freak." Dio is impressed with my knowledge of who he is. "Shit, am I not allowed to talk about her?"
"No you can." I assure him. "She is just trapped under those Siren's spell."
"Oh you mean the Twins? Nah, they're harmless. They just like to cause mischief among the Frat brothers."
"Dio, they've got Viv convinced I'm trying to steal Cal away from her." I tell him the cause of the rift between my best friend and I. Obviously neither of them cared to tell him that's why the 'fam' isn't all together.
