Chapter Twenty Eight

"You do not have the right to just end our conversation." I hiss angrily.

The things he is saying, they're cruel. I can't tell if he is saying them to hurt me or because he really has no common sense. He can't speak to me this way, and he cannot just treat me like someone who can just be pushed around. This is what I was afraid of when I forgave him for going AWOL, and I won't stand for it.

"I am Lord Hades, God of the Underworld. I can do as I damn well please." Hades stands upright, eyes still dark.

"I do not respect that as an authority here." I brazenly say, fed up. "That might command power to others, but in here you are still Sterling. You do not have the right to cut me out of this. You want to talk about allowing? Well I do not allow you. I am my own person, and I make my own decisions."

Hades' face contorts to anger, then relaxes.

"There is the Aza Grace I saw on Olympus."

"Do not ever pull the God card on me." I point my finger at him aggressively.

I am angry, and justifiably so. This type of hubris can only be exerted by Gods.

"I care about you, Aza Grace." Hades takes a step towards me, moving to take my hands but I step back, "More than I'd like to admit. And if something were to happen to you..."

"Nothing will. I've got the Lord Hades, God of the Underworld on my side." I take off my jacket, ditch my things and put a record to listen up to.

The cold air warms up and I feel two two hands wrap around my waist from behind. "I just want to protect you."

"And you will," I turn around in his arms, "But you are dead wrong if you think I won't see this to the end."

Hades leans in to kiss me, but there is a loud ringing and a light that nearly blinds me. And I know what that means...

"Well isn't this a cozy scene."

When the light fades, I see Dio standing there with a smug look on his face. Hades and I both separate, and fiddle with our clothes as if we were caught in the act of doing something that we were not. We almost were, and I wish we had been, but in fact it was just that, a cozy scene.

"Why have we been brought back to Olympus?" Hades seems annoyed to see his face, but probably not for the same reasons.

"Why for the same reason I'm here." His smug look turns into a wide grin. "A party!"

"And me?" I question. "I doubt Hermes made the same mistake twice."

Dio shrugs, "Beats me. Gods don't typically allow humans on Olympus willy nilly. Something about worshippers in the God sacred area or some elitist shit like that.

We've been summoned back into that same massive ballroom as the last time. No court this time though.

"Excuse me m'Lords." A small voice comes from behind the three of us, making us all turn. In front of us, stands a young girl who must be a nymph. I make this assumption because she has flowers woven in her hair, and is wearing a sheer white chiffon dress with flower designs covering just her private parts. It fits the profile.

"Well hello there." Dio gives her a flirty wave.

"Dio!" I smack his arm. "She's like fourteen!"

"Don't be deceived by her outward appearance." Dio points to her get up. "She is not that young, are you beautiful?"

The nymph does not answer his questions, "I was asked to lead the human to her champers to prepare, and to tell you there are quarters for you m'Lords in the west wing."
