Chapter Twenty

I don't feel any better when I wake up the next day. It's just another day.

Seeing Vivian's empty side of the room hurts, but gives me the strength to get up and dressed and ready to at least contact Calvin. When I pick up my phone to dial his number, I see that I missed a text from Avery.

Shit.

I completely forgot about Avery. Another problem for another day.

The line rings a few times, and I am nervous he won't answer, but he does.

"I really shouldn't be talking to you."

"Just delete the call from your log history, this is important. Can we please meet?"

Calvin pauses but eventually says, "Fine, the library where we last saw each other. Be there in ten minutes."

I grab my winter gear and rush over to the library. A lead, hopefully.

Calvin is there when I arrive, looking skittish.

"Cal, thank God, or Gods, or whatever." I throw my arms around him. "It's been fucking hell."

He awkwardly pushes me off of him. "That is not a good idea."

"Shit sorry." I step away from him, realizing he's probably correct.

"I'm supposed to meet with Viv and Cami in an hour, so we don't have long." He says.

"Okay okay." I pace in place. "I'm going to tell you a whole lot of shit and it's going to sound crazy but you need to believe me."

"Fine, but please stand still. Or sit down." Cal points to the table and chairs next to us.

We sit down and I start, heart beating anxiously.

"You know that nothing is going on between us, and that I, a hundred percent, don't have feelings for you. For fucks sake, I love you two together and I never say that about any of Viv's boyfriends. But those Delta Zeta girls have her entirely brainwashed. And this will be a lot to take in, but I have reason to believe that there is a cult here on campus, and there is a high possibility Delta Zeta is involved in putting Vivian in a lot of danger. As in, murderous danger! So we need to get her out of there as soon as possible."

I feel like I didn't breathe for one second of that. Worth it though.

Calvin looks confused though. I'm not sure I got through to him.

"Do you realize how crazy that sounds?"

"Fuck I know." I pull my hair up in a bun. "It sounds batshit. But it's true, it is all true. I watched this cult murder three students. They knocked me out and kidnapped me. They are real."

"I believe that you believe this is true, but I don't know..."

I don't know what else to say to convince Cal.

"Please, you have to talk to Vivian for me. Try and convince her to talk to me. Convince her that I was not trying to take you from her."

"I tried." Cal sighs. "Cami and The Twins have turned her completely against you. I was all for her joining DZ, but it is all she thinks or talks about now."

My spirits are slightly lifted, "See! Something is weird with those girls, especially the Twins."

"But a murderous cult working within Greek Life? That is pretty psycho thriller, don't you think?"
