"You're really funny Shawn," I laughed at the story he was telling me as we walked out of Waffle House.

We ended up going there because it was closest to the office building.

"You can call me Jay. Most of my friends call me Jay. It's just a nickname from back home," he told me.

"Oh, so now I'm a friend?," I asked him smiling as we walked through the parking lot to his car.

"I mean, if you wanna be," he said.

"You know, I may have been wrong about you. Maybe you're not so much of an asshole," I told him.

"Well, thank you. Maybe I was wrong about you. Maybe you aren't so much of a spoiled brat," he told me.

"Thank you Jay," I said putting emphasis on his nickname.

He chuckled at the way I said it.

"I think I like Jay better," I laughed.

"You've got a really beautiful laugh," he said to me.

"Thank you, and you can call me Bey," I said as I blushed and looked away from him.

He unlocked his car door and helped me into his car. He closed the door behind me before going around and getting in himself.

"You're such a gentleman. Opening the car doors and helping me in and out of the car. Holding the door at the restaurant. It's nice," I told him.

"Well, my mom wasn't the best mom, but she did teach me how to treat a lady," he said.

He started up his car and pulled out of the parking lot.

"I'm sure that you're fiancé opens doors and stuff for you, right?," he asked me.

"Um, well, sometimes he does. I guess I've never really thought about it until now," I said.

He just looked at me before looking back at the road.

"It's not that big of a deal," I said.

"Mhm, of course it's not," he said.

"It's not," I told him.

"Then why are you still talking about it?," he asked me.

"I'm not. You are," I said.

"Okay. Whatever," he told me.

"You know, now that we've gotten a good start on our project, I'm a lot more confident that we'll have it done by next Friday," I said trying to change the subject.

"Yeah, me too. I think we've got a really good thing going," he agreed.

We drove back to the office just making conversation.
