After everyone started to head home, Jay, Dan, Taylor and I stayed back to go see the team.
"You actually won!" Dan screamed to one player the moment we stepped in the familiar locker room.
Everyone was in a conversation and I was okay alone by the corner, reimagining everything in my mind. My heart was pounding most of the time, and when I scored the goal I almost screamed and raised my middle fingers at everyone's face who doubted my skills. Chaz, cough.. I knew I only scored one goal, but I was still proud to play with the famous school Blue Kingston team. I still didn't understand how the brown team was cheating, but it didn't matter now that we won.
Everyone stopped talking when a man came in the room, he looked like he was in his late 30's and had a thin beard and shiny slicked-back black hair with white strands.
"Congratulations boys." He smiled and everyone started to cheer again.
"I came for you." His dark eyes darted and fell on me. I got a short cardiac arrest and started thinking of all the things I might've done wrong.
"I'm sorry- what?" I laughed in disbelief.
"You did so good back in the field. You deserve to do something with your skills." He smiled. I was even more shocked and confused when he said that.
"Thanks." I murmured.
"Oh- I didn't even introduce myself. I'm Pablo. Pablo Lucentio." He extended his arm. What a professional name.
"Olivia Oakley." I shook his hand. I felt embarrassed. The whole room was looking at us, and I was excited but still confused at what the hell was going on.
"Can we talk, out?" He gave me a creepy smile.
What if he kidnaps me and rapes me??
"Uhh.. sure, no problem." I said then followed him outside, trying hard to not grab attention. Which by the way, was already a fail.
We walked around the long hallways for a few seconds but it felt like awkward hours. We then finally got to an office. He pushed the door and let me in first.
Rapist alert.
"Don't be shy." He laughed and threw himself down on the office chair behind a desk. I followed and sat on one of the leather chairs in front of him.
"I'm not, I'm just.. confused." I said and he chuckled again.
"No. It's okay." He said. He had a bit of a foreign accent that I couldn't catch. "Have you ever been in a football team?"
"No, our school never made a girls team." I said quietly.
"That's a shame." He shook his head. "How often do you practice football?"
"Whenever I'm free. It's something I liked ever since I was a kid." I said sheepishly. I didn't know where this was going to but I felt extremely uncomfortable.
"That's good, good." He smiled then paused, causing an awkward silence.
He grabbed a notebook from the desk and opened it, looking at some notes. He then looked at me and grinned and I almost got up and left the room because of how creepy that was.
"I have a good offer for you." He said, closing the book.
"What offer?" I asked, ideas popping in my head.
"I'll let you join a girls' football team. You are so good." He smiled and my heart shot up to mars. I've always wanted to be in a team but the school never gave us a chance. Now was my only choice. It felt surreal and I wasn't sure if that was a prank, but I was internally screeching anyway.
