Don't assume about that person—
they aren't the same individual
from years ago or even last week
neither are you
because of what occurred
behind the scenes; what you're aware of
that was a past them
a different person to who is in front of you now
and a past you
the same can be said because we've both changed
You're living in the present
not the past
not the future
So act upon it
if you fail to realize this
you won't have anything
you won't have anyone
people die unexpectedly and all too soon
and the rest will fade into memories
in distress and unperceived feelings
and you'll be left. . . alone.
